Acton Staff Weekly Updates
Recently Asked Questions and Building Updates
Correction to the grading window: All grades need to be posted no later than 3:00 on May 22. This is a new date due to the change in school year dates. Disregard the date sent out earlier this week from Sarah and Cindy. Please plan accordingly.
Will we be going into the buildings soon? We are waiting on continued guidance from Mayor Hogsett and Governor Halcomb. At this time Marion County is still under a Stay at Home Order. Once we know more about the timeline from the government we will be able to share district/school plans. If you are concerned about childcare or making other arrangements, I'd start working on those things as if you will be going in. Unfortunately I cannot say when that will be or for how long. We have to wait till the stay at home order is lifted.
See below for 20-21 school map, master schedule and school theme for next year.
FRIENDS!
Class Placements
Timeline:
Teachers, please check the students, make the corrections and add considerations/ notes by May 13.
Please meet as a team (Zoom if needed) to place students staying at Acton by May 21. Please email me when your team has completed this.
I will meet with principals where our students are going or are coming from to place the outlier students. The considerations that you list will be highly relied upon.

Access to the buildings and guidelines to follow:
From Dr. Pettet's email:
As you may already know, Mayor Hogsett has extended the Indianapolis Stay At Home order to May 15th. This order does include wearing a mask when out in public. Governor Holcomb will be holding a press conference tomorrow to address the state of Indiana. We have and will continue to monitor orders and restrictions. Our focus is to keep everyone safe while in our buildings. In order to accomplish this, we will be implementing restrictions for all employees upon entering the building.
- All buildings will have a designated entry door. Your principal will email you the door location for your building. ----- At AC: Main Doors at the FOYER
- We will continue to open the buildings on the next two Mondays, 5/4 and 5/11 for certified staff.
- As before, coming in (5/4 and 5/11) should be limited and only if necessary.
- If you are coming in on 5/4 and/or 5/11, please note the change:
- You will need to contact your principal that you plan to come in.
- You will need to report between 9:00 AM - 12:00 Noon to be screened.
- Badge access will be turned off after 12:00 noon.
- If you try to access the building after 12:00, you will not have access.
- Once you are screened and given access between 9:00 AM - 12:00 noon, you are welcome to stay longer if needed. But you will not be able to leave and come back in the afternoon.
- If you have a question, please contact your building principal. Call, text or email me anytime!!!
- When you enter at the designated door, there will be a check-in station by the entry.
- You will have your temperature taken by a touch-less thermometer.
- If above 99.6, you will be denied entry
- If 99.6 or below entry will be granted
- You will be asked two questions:
- Have you had any COVID-19 symptoms?
- Do you live with someone who has been exposed to COVID-19?
- Based on that information you will either be given access to the building or denied access.
- If you are given access, you will be asked if you have your own PPE items (gloves and mask). If you do not, you will be provided gloves and a mask by FTCSC.
- If you are denied access, you will be provided with information on when you can return.
- Please remember that frequent handwashing is one of the best ways to stop the spread of germs and viruses.
- We will have signs posted at entry doors to help with reminders and procedures.
We thank you for your patience, flexibility and understanding. As we will continue to work through this unprecedented and fluid situation, we will update and provide new or changed information when available. We thank you for your dedication to our FTCSC community! Stay Safe. #WeAreFlashes
Covid Information for Families
As a reminder, there is a FAQ on the District Covid-19 section of the website that answers many questions- SEE LINKS BELOW. Please share these links with your families to remind them to look there for answers. Like Dr. Pettet said, please direct questions to me first, and then I will try to get answers for you if I don't know them.
Absences
- If you still have an absence in Aesop that you no longer need, please go in and delete it.
- If you will not be able to hold your office hours one day, you will need to report that absence.
FTCSC Hedgehog Focus
The Hedgehog Concept is based on an ancient Greek parable that states, "The fox knows many things, but the hedgehog knows one big thing." ... Hedgehogs, however, simplify the world and focus on a single, overarching vision, which they then achieve.
