Elementary Instructional Technology students are finishing up their unit on digital citizenship.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Grades K-2
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The digital citizens from Common Sense Education guided students through this unit where they learned how to safely and responsibly navigate online when using devices.
Kindergarten
Kindergartner's learned to navigate Clever, Google Classroom, and how to manage tabs on many "just right for me" websites and apps. Below you can find links to some of these OK sites that we practiced exploring. Feel free to explore these with your child.
Students understand the importance of keeping private information safe, getting permission before going to websites, telling a grownup if they are concerned about something they see online and saying goodbye to technology even when it's hard. The digital citizens show us the "Pause, Breathe and Finish Up" routine in the video below. Feel free to use it in class or at home when it's time to separate from technology.

First Grade
First graders learned the importance of staying safe and balanced by listening to how you feel when online, by only visiting "green light" websites and by keeping private information safe.

Public Service Announcement Projects
Students in Grades 3-5 are demonstrating their understanding of digital citizenship by creating a project to share their knowledge with their community.
Students in grade 3 created a Public Service Announcement in the form of a poster. Some students created a digital poster while others created one using paper and pencil.
Students in grade 4 created a variety of artifacts showing their understanding of Digital Safety and Security as well as Online Friendships and fair and appropriate online gameplay. Some created a digital poster for their project according to their interests and strengths while others created a mock video game complete with rules for social interaction and an eye-catching cover.
Students in grade 5 created their Public Service Announcements in the form of a digital poster, a podcast episode, or a video based on their preference. Students in this grade were able to work independently, with a partner or with a small group.
