Kindergarten Recess/Playdate and Kindergarten Camp
Recess August 2
Mahaffey has the BEST teachers hands down! Our Kinder teachers have planned a pre-school recess for the incoming Kindergartners to get to meet some friends and check out the playground before all the hustle and bustle of the school year starts. We would love to see you there! Please note that parents must be present with children during the recess time.
Camp August 10:We know that coming to Kindergarten, whether it's your first baby or your last, can be an anxious, exciting and sometimes even scary time for some of us-kids and adults both!
We want to help ease this stress with Kinder Camp.
Join us for a short hour of fun and information! Check In begins at 8:30, session begins at 9:00.
Students will go with our amazing Kindergarten teachers to visit some classrooms and practice a few daily things that may happen in kindergarten like, reading a book, coloring, cutting, turn taking and of course singing.
While the students are doing this, parents will get the 101 on all things Mahaffey. Campus administration and our awesome PTO will go through some general school procedures and information that we think will be extra helpful in making this transition, then we will be available for any questions you may still have.

Back to School Information
Click here for access to Klein ISD Back-to-School website.
Please note: Students enrolled in a Klein ISD school during the 2017-18 school year are automatically re-enrolled for the 2018-19 school year.
All parents of returning students must, however, complete the Annual Student Information Update in Skyward for each student between Aug. 2-17. It is important to update your Skyward information each year to ensure that in the case of a school emergency or the need to send parent notification, we have the correct phone number and email address.
Bus Information will be available after Aug. 13th by clicking here.
Before and After School Day Care: If you are interested in Campus Kids for before or after school, please visit this link for more information.
Dismissal/Transportation Information
We are a very large campus and work to get over 800 little bodies home very quickly. The end of the day can get hectic, so we ask for your help, cooperation and understanding.
If your child will be going home a different way, please let the FRONT OFFICE and your child's TEACHER know right away. Telling the teacher is wonderful, but sometimes they can't check voicemail or email until it is after school-so your best option is always the main front office.
We ask that you have the call made by 2:30pm. If messages are not cleared or given in time, please know the teachers are trained to send kids home their regular way unless cleared by administration. We CANNOT take a child's word for it when it comes to leaving school safely.
Car riders will be given a car rider number for parents to display on their rear view mirror during pick up. If you are sending someone different to pick up your child, please alert the front office and have number displayed. We will not release students to any person not on emergency card unless authorization is given by the primary custodial parent.
All car riders will be picked up in the front parking lot. Two lines will form in front of the school. It is imperative that you follow all Mahaffey employee instructions for efficiency and safety purposes.
Bus riders and day cares are dismissed in the back of the school and loaded with teacher supervision. Please note that once children are on the bus, they must follow the bus route to the designated drop off assigned by Klein Transportation.
Walkers will be dismissed and are encouraged to walk straight home. Kinder students must have a adult present at pick up or an assigned adult or older sibling escort noted at the front office and with the teacher.
We encourage you to talk with your students about the safety and responsibility of walking to/from school.
Campus kids are picked up in the back of the school at the cafeteria entrance. A Campus Kids employee will greet you and follow their sign out procedures.
Please note that Campus Kids is a third party day care that rents Mahaffey property. Even if a child is going to Campus Kids for the afternoon, the front office should be made aware.
This is a great, convenient child care option located at Mahaffey and worth looking into for our working families.
Clinic Information
Before enrolling at Mahaffey, your student must be up to date on ALL vaccinations OR have an up to date exemption from the State of Texas. No student will be assigned a homeroom teacher if ANY medical information or immunization record is incomplete and will be unable to start class until cleared by administration.
Please be sure to disclose any medical history, medications and allergies to our nurses so we can keep your child's safety and health at the front of our decisions. Know that we follow all FERPA and HIPPA guidelines and this information is confidential. The more we know about your child, the better we can sere them!

Message from Mrs. Mason
I am so thrilled to get to experience my first full year as a Scottie with all of you. I am beyond proud of how we finished up the 17-18 school year and am eager to see what 18-19 has in store for us. You may see many new faces around our campus and I hope you take some time to get to know them. Lots of exciting things are in store for us and I hope you follow our Twitter page @MahaffeyKISD to see some of it in action! I also encourage you to join our PTO, follow them on Twitter @MahaffeyPTO and follow them on Facebook Maheffey PTO-they are always a great resource and 'go to' for all things Mahaffey. We are always wanting volunteers in any way we can get them-you don't have to come to school during the workday to help us out-connect with PTO to learn more options on how you can help us. I truly believe in order for our kids to be their most successful, we must have that home to school connection and this time of year is perfect for us all to build that relationship and hit the ground running on the best year yet!
My admin team and I are always here to support our community and families. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions, comments or concerns.
