Update from Dr. Ryan Glaze Superintendent, Tipton Community School Corporation
It’s hard to believe we have reached the one-year mark since an unparalleled health crisis entered our lives and literally changed everything. We have survived, and in some areas, thrived. The pandemic has shown us how to live and learn differently in every aspect of our lives. While we are starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel and know the pandemic won’t go on forever, we still need to proceed with caution in the weeks and months ahead.
As we look ahead, Tipton Elementary School is readying for the 2021-22 years with its annual Kindergarten Roundup and Preschool registration now underway. To enroll for Kindergarten, children must be 5 years old on or before August 1, 2021. To register for our onsite Preschool program, children must be age 4 on or by August 1, 2021.
Our preschool program is a treasured amenity in the community. This program provides developmentally appropriate educational opportunities for four-year old children and their families. The program blends the best of enrichment opportunities and partnership among the child, family, school, and community to encourage lifelong learning. Trained and nurturing staff inspire learning and help create positive communities of friends with hands-on learning, enrichment activities, creative arts, and playtime to help develop the whole child while preparing for a smooth and successful transition to Kindergarten the following year.
We are also pleased to announce that we have added a NEW Before and After Care Program to our Preschool program. This program, available to students enrolled in our Preschool, will be offered between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. We are excited to welcome our youngest students to school. One of the things the pandemic didn’t seem to stop was the drive and determination of our student athletes. Our Lady Blue Devils basketball team brought their history-making season to a close as a IHSAA 2A Semi-State Champion and State Runner Up. Ayden Stanley also made Blue Devil history by finishing 15th in the 100 Butterfly at the IHSAA State Swimming & Diving Championships. It was a good season to be blue! Well done!
Speaking of blue, Tipton County was downgraded to the Blue color level this week on the COVID-19 map. However, the county remains in the Yellow color advisory and is to still follow the Yellow advisory guidelines until two straight weeks of Blue metrics are met. This is encouraging as we transition back to daily, in-person instruction. To ensure this is a sustainable option for our students and staff for the remainder of the year, we must be mindful that this pandemic is not over, to expect a potential increase in cases because of mutant strains of the virus, coupled with the impact of a 9-day spring break, and “pandemic fatigue.”
Let’s continue to stay strong, aligned, and continue to do our part to ensure our shift back to full, in-person instruction next week is our final shift of this school year. #TiptonPride
