Professions in the Arts: Call for Volunteers
The Arts team is organizing a professions in the arts workshop for our students. Date TBD, but likely in February.
If you are an artist of any kind, please consider volunteering and sharing your talents with the students in our community.
The workshops will be on Zoom and last about 40 minutes. We want students to learn about as many profession opportunities in the arts as possible!
Library with Ms. Jaquess
We LOVE play-based literacy!
Students in Kindergarten have been enjoying some much needed “play” during their library time. Over the past couple of weeks they have been participating in the KLeap program for Kindergarten.

Dance with Mrs. Sheehan
During Trimester 1, the 4th grade students from Mrs. Madison's class and 2nd grade students from Mrs. Kalinowski's class participated in Dance. We celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month by learning about Latin Dances. We read Danza about Amalia Hernandez, a dancer, choreographer, and cultural historian. Through her Dance Company she kept dances from many states in Mexico alive. We were able to dance La Raspa. Our Warm-up included Juanito Cuando Baile.
4th grade choreographed their own dances. We ended with a Celebration of all our favorite activities, including rolling across the floor!
2nd grade also danced La Raspa and Juanito Cuando Baile. They ended by listening to music and drawing to fit what they heard. After mapping it out they followed their map.
Mrs. Swan's and Mrs. Flowers' students will have Arts Magnified Dance during Trimester 2.
Orchestra with Mr. Carrillo
(Pictured is the fitness center, where the 2nd & 3rd grade violin students have lessons in the afternoons)
Recently, all the orchestra students have been doing a great job learning and progressing on their instruments. Currently; the 2nd,3rd, and other beginner students have all started learning about bow. There has been a lot of success in getting started, but it will take a few weeks for students to get more comfortable with using a bow regularly. Our intermediate students have finished working on Spooky Scary Skeletons and learned the small differences with rhythm, note reading, and bowings that can come with an easy song that many people know. Then finally, our oldest and most experienced students are preparing to play with the ETHS Orchestra for “Orchestra day”. The ETHS orchestra has invited our 8th grade students to play alongside and in their concert to show the future of the orchestra program. For persons interested in attending, the concert will be Monday, December 13th, 2021 at 7pm in the ETHS auditorium (concert will be over by 8:15pm & free to attend). Masks and COVID protocols will be taken place for students and audience members.

Media Art with Ms. Wernecke
Media Arts students in 7th and 8th Grade recently learned about the artist Louise Nevelson.
Media Art
The student artists created and carefully painted assemblages inspired by the style of her work, using materials that might otherwise have ended-up being recycled or thrown away. We are proud of how their finished pieces turned out!
