Gail M. Dottin is a writer, a decent Scrabble player and a VONA disciple having attended the workshop five times. Her first book, Where There Is Pride In Belonging, is nearing completion. She has been published in Quarto, TESOL Panama, and the anthology Lesbian Friendships: For Ourselves and Each Other. Two of her recent pieces will be published in upcoming compilations. "Apology Accepted," in Dismantle, the first VONA anthology and "WhiteGirlColorlessAfriPana" in Wise Latinas, a collection of work by and about Latinas reflecting on their college experiences.
Stacie Evans lives and works in Brooklyn. She writes in long-hand. With a fountain pen. She has published fiction and essays and, most recently, the first episode of a web comic. She is a two-time VONA alum and can be found online at www.girlgriot.wordpress.com.
Lisa Ko has received fellowships and awards from the New York Foundation for the Arts and the Jerome Foundation, as well as residencies from Ledig House, the Blue Mountain Center, and the Saltonstall Foundation. Her fiction was nominated for a Pushcart Prize and published in Narrative, Brooklyn Review, The Asian Pacific American Journal, and elsewhere. She has taught creative writing at the City College of New York and is completing a novel, Jackpot.
Melissa Rivero is a writer from Brooklyn. She wrote her first poem, in Spanish, when she was six years old, and has won awards for her essays and short stories. Her legal writing has also been published. After working in advertising and practicing law for several years, she has returned to her love of storytelling. Melissa is an alumna of the VONA and was a writing workshop participant at the Norman Mailer Writer’s Colony. She has also attended writing workshops at The Writers Studio and Gotham Writers’ Workshop in New York City. Melissa was born in Lima, Peru. She is currently at work on her first novel.
