The cozy neighborhood Park Slope spot The Sackett opens its full bar and microphone to the writers of VONA/Voices, the only mult-genre workshop for writers of color in the country! Guest Curated by Camille Acker.

Melissa Rivero

Melissa Rivero is a writer from Brooklyn. She wrote her first poem, in Spanish, when she was six years old, and has won awards for her essays and short stories. Her legal writing has also been published. After working in advertising and practicing law for several years, she has returned to her love of storytelling. Melissa is an alumna of the VONA and was a writing workshop participant at the Norman Mailer Writer’s Colony. She has also attended writing workshops at The Writers Studio and Gotham Writers’ Workshop in New York City. Melissa was born in Lima, Peru. She is currently at work on her first novel.
