Principal Message

Hello Whitford Families and Students.

It was a pleasure to meet so many of you during our Back to School Night last week. What a treat to connect parents with kids. I love coming to school every day working with and learning from Whitford’s greatest resource…. OUR KIDS!!

Please take a moment and fill out our form on how you want to set up your Parent Teacher Conferences. It is listed below.

In place of writing a bunch this week, I would like to provide links to my BTSN presentations. Feel free to check them out, review them, and ask any questions that you see fit based on what you see and read. Have an excellent weekend and welcome to October.

6th Grade Outdoor School Reminders

Outdoor School for 6th graders is rapidly approaching! We've waited four years for our 6th graders to have the full Outdoor School experience, and we are excited to have this opportunity. Students will board buses at Whitford on Tuesday, October 25 and head to the coast for three nights, returning on Friday, October 28.

Permission forms are due back no later than Tuesday, October 3. Parents should be gathering supplies on the checklist (sleeping bags, rain gear, etc). If you know that you will be unable to gather specific required supplies from the list, please email Cheryl Ashdown immediately so we can assist you. Also, if you know for sure that your student will be unable to attend Outdoor School, please communicate that immediately as well.

Updates for all 6th grade parents are being emailed through ParentSquare each Monday, so if you are not receiving these messages you should make sure ParentSquare is active!

WEB Leaders Welcome 6th Graders

W.E.B. (Where Everybody Belongs) is a new leadership and community-building program here at Whitford. 8th grade WEB Leaders gave up days of their summer break to prepare an amazing orientation day as a welcome for our incoming 6th graders. After an energetic opening assembly, 6th graders met their teachers, toured the building, and had team-building time with their WEB small group. We look forward to future events organized by our amazing WEB leaders!

Parent Teacher Conference Survey -- How and when do you want to conference?

Thanks to all those who came to our Back To School Night last week. It was great to see you all and meet you too. To help move us forward in enhancing connections with families, our next opportunity to visit is during Parent Teacher Conferences. Conferences for us will be on the evening of October 19 and all day on October 20. There will be NO SCHOOL for kids on October 20 nor 21st.

To prepare for conferences, we need your help. Would you please take a few moments to complete the survey below? We need to know if you want to conference and in what format.

Because conferences are coming at us so quickly, we will need you to complete these surveys BEFORE the end of business on Tuesday, October 4 so that our teachers can begin to plan, organize, and schedule conferences for parents who would like to visit. You will receive a confirmation of date and time from us as well. Anyone completing this survey AFTER October 4 will be assigned a teacher as there is space in our schedule.

Thanks so much for our quick response.
