Sunnyvale announces new Town Manager

The Sunnyvale Town Council is pleased to announce that they have selected Jeff Jones as the next Town Manager for the Town of Sunnyvale.


Jeff Jones’ career in public service spans three decades of service in five communities across Texas and Wyoming. Jones most recently served as the President and General Manager of The Woodlands, Texas, during a time when the community was rated the best city in America by Niche.com and one of the fastest growing cities in the U.S. by VisualCapitalist.com. Before leading The Woodlands, Jones served as Deputy City Manager and Assistant City Manager in Mesquite and Assistant City Manager in Hurst, Texas. In Hurst, Jones played a key role in the development of the Hurst Conference Center. He has also worked as a Budget Analyst for the State of Kansas, in addition to serving the cities of Casper and Douglas, Wyoming.


Jones earned a Master of Public Administration from Texas Tech University’s Center for Public Service and a Bachelor of Science from Black Hills State University. He is also a graduate of the Public Executive Institute held at the University of Texas at Austin’s Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs. Jones has been a full member of the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) since 1996 and also previously served as President of the Urban Management Assistants of North Texas.


Jones' first day with the Town will be on June 1. Please join us in welcoming him and his family into the community.

All lanes of SH 352 (South Collins Road), U.S. 80 to Mesquite have opened to traffic. The contractor is still continuing to work on minor items, but this project is substantially complete.

Summer Reading 2022: Oceans of Possibilities!

It’s almost summer again, and Summer Reading is back at the Doris Padgett Public Library to keep your family’s fun and learning going after school lets out!


This year, dive underwater (in the Library, no less!) and experience:

  • Nautical family fun at our Wednesday story times every week at 10:30 a.m.
  • A weekly sea craft every Thursday at 2 p.m.
  • Entertainers fit for your whole crew on Fridays at 2 p.m.
  • A whole ocean of fun reading challenges that could lead you to winning a grand prize. . . that you get to pick!
  • Door prizes, fun activities, and more surprises to come.

Beginning June 1, swing by the Library to pick up your packets and get ready for a summer of fun and learning under the sea!


The Summer Reading Program will be held from June 7 - July 28.

Join us on Friday, June 24 from 6 - 10 p.m. for food, fun, and fireworks!
