CTE Delivers Real-World Skills for Students

  • CTE is a unique opportunity for hands=on learning – putting students at the center of the action.
  • CTE provides the skills and confidence students need to pursue career options, discover their passions and get on a path to success.
  • Students in CTE programs and their parents are three times as likely to report they are “very satisfied” with their and their children’s ability to learn real-world skill as part of their current education compared to parents and students not involved in CTE.

CTE Spotlight - Sports and Entertainment Marketing

Mrs. Wright's Sports and Entertainment Marketing students worked through the steps of product development. The steps had specific activities that mimicked what a professional would do in a real-world setting. These steps are idea generation, idea screening, concept development, marketing strategy development, business analysis, product development, test marketing and commercialization. While much of the practice was theoretical, they did create their own active wear shoes with special features and benefits to a target consumer.

Prom and Graduation Update

Graduation will take place at Pirate Stadium First United Park the evening of Thursday, May 27th. United Spirit Arena does not have the floor capacity to accommodate all our seniors in one graduation event.

Prom will be April 10th at the Overton Hotel Conference Center. As stated before, we'd like to have as close to a traditional Lubbock-Cooper prom as possible, but we are still working on details about who will and will not be able to attend. A final decision on attendance will be released in the near future.

TEA to Issue Waivers for Emergency Weather Event

In light of the recent school cancelations, the Texas Education Agency is allotting waivers to schools for the emergency weather event in order to prevent schools from needing to make up any necessary cancellations. LCISD campuses have also banked enough minutes throughout the year to avoid any makeup days at this time.
