Learn about The NED Show
The NED Show: Theres a Champion in Every Kid!
The NED Show is an, "...innovative, character education assembly... using humor, audience participation, and amazing object lessons including yo-yo and magic tricks students learn through the adventures of NED..."
In preparation of the NED Show Assembly,
The following resources may be utilized to both build your students' interest prior to the Assembly and to continue the momentum after the program:
Incorporating The NED Show into relevant written language experiences--Maybe even use in Morning Meeting Opportunities!
The NED Show Assembly: Promoting Writing Skills with NED Topics
Additional Resources
The following are books that have proven relevant, high interest, and allow for student input as we think about appropriate friendship skills (reducing bullying behavior). If you'd like to borrow one of these books just let me know---I'll send it your way.
AND each picture book has teacher lead questions at the end of the story for easy processing! AND if you would like support in facilitating one of these stories/lessons, let me know in advance and I'll be glad to help in facilitation.
The Invisible Boy
This story shows how small acts of kindness can help children feel included and allow them to flourish.
Just Kidding
This books looks at emotional bullying among boys---situations where a buddy can be a bully and where two innocent words can mask a painful reality..."just kidding."
Trouble Talk
Bailey loves to talk and everything--including everyone--is fair game. But when Bailey begins to hurt people's feelings and spread harmful rumors, Maya realizes she's not the friend she needs.
My Secret Bully
This story is about Monica and Katie who have been friends since kindergarten. Monica loves being around Katie when is nice, but there are times that Katie is just plain mean and Monica doesn't understand why. This is a story about girls dealing with relationship aggression.
Mrs. Blake is collecting additional resources for us and will have them accessible for our use in the Media Center for check-out. Thank you Mrs. Blake!
The following is a link to a Sesame Street video dealing with self regulation and students' abilities to WAIT. Another way to think about the "N" in the NED Show, Never Give Up!
Sesame Street: Me Want It (But Me Wait)
Don't Give Up (By Josh Groban)
A Josh Groban you tube video -- a great way to illicit emotional awareness of empathy toward self and others. AND it piggy backs off the "Don't Give Up" theme in The NED Show.

Being Kind: Karma Tube Video
Below is the link to the Karma Tube video our students viewed earlier in the year as we celebrated Mix it Up at Encore Day. A VERY touching video which invited our students to think about and plan their daily acts of kindness toward others. As Mrs. Hyatt has reminded me, it's a good thing to allow our students to view a good video more than once. What a great way to begin a Morning Meeting, a written language experience, a time to connect with our students in a whole way.
