My name is Jennie Roland and I am the school social worker for South and East Elementary. This is my second year serving in this role. I have the privilege of assisting students and families with support and connections to community resources. This allows students to have everything needed to help them be successful at school. Part of those connections include working closely with Care to Learn to set up resources for students with health, hunger, and hygiene needs. I am proud to work for the Ozark School District where students come first.

"The bugz are ready for the Christmas program infestation. The carpenter bees have built the sets, and the silkworms have made the costumes. But...Oh, no! The termites just chewed up the Christmas tree decorations and ate the lights! What are the bugz to do?"

Ms. Kaufman, South music teacher, has been working with 2nd graders on our first performance of the year! They will be performing "A Bugz Christmas" on Tuesday, December 13th at 6:30pm in the Ozark High School Auditorium.

Throughout the year, South focuses on nine character traits that we want all students in Ozark Public Schools to have mastered by the time they graduate. Each month we focus on one of the Portrait of a Graduate words. Classroom teachers nominate one student from their class who best exhibits that character trait. South then recognizes those students with an all-school assembly in which their parents are invited to attend. Out of the twenty-eight students nominated, one student is chosen as "Top Tiger" and is recognized at the monthly Ozark School board meeting for going above and beyond displaying the character trait.
