Summer and Winter

Summer

Warm, Bright

Swimming, Blooming, Beautiful

All in the same year, but complete opposites

Snowing, Freezing, Chilling

Frost, Wintertide

Winter

Veterans

You’ve saved our country time and time again

You have had many long and treacherous experiences

Lives have been saved

Lives have been lost

Your particular field of work is difficult

But you are strong enough to accomplish every task you face

And every one of you deserve our pride

You are all brave and bold

Whether you’re young or old

When our country was in need

All of your hands were the first ones raised

They all unselfishly and knowingly

Went out on a ferocious endeavor

And although all of us who have not served

Will never know the

Pain, sacrifice, and challenges you faced

We share our love

Sending our blessings

We all want every veteran to know

They are special, loved, and

Never forgotten

Thank you from the bottom of my heart

A Charming Flower

She reminded me of the flowers you see in the springtime

Sweet and beautiful

At one point in her life, I know she was a black eyed susan

Brightly colored and strong-willed

Although I didn’t know her in her earlier years

She surely was a glowing red amaryllis

Full of splendid beauty and youth

In her later years, she didn’t seem like an Aster

Engulfed in patience

Though, throughout her whole life, she reminded me of a

Bouvardia Double

She always had a zest for life, full of enthusiasm

Towards the end

A dark time

I really wished I had resembled some of these flowers

I should’ve been a chrysanthemum

Surrounding myself and others in optimism

Instead, I resembled an anemone

Lacking hope

Feelings of having been forsaken

The death of my great grandmother put a damper

On my spirits

I should’ve been a chrysanthemum in these times of trouble

Unfortunately, I was an anemone

But, my great grandmother

She was something truly special

A black eyed susan

An amaryllis

A bouvardia double

Now all of this is lost

Her personality

Full of zest, enthusiasm, beauty, youth, strength

Never to be seen again

The Voice

There is a voice inside of you

That whispers all day long,

"I feel that this is right for me,

I know that this is wrong."

No teacher, preacher, parent, friend

Or wise man can decide

What's right for you just listen to

The voice that speaks inside.
