100 Days!
A big thank you to everyone who helped contribute to our 100th day snack yesterday! First grade had a blast making their 100-piece snacks, writing about what it will be like when they are 100 or if they had $100, and doing a huge 100 item "I Spy" activity!
Elementary Trip to the Tellus Museum on February 9
Look for field trip information and forms in your child's folder this afternoon pertaining to our February 9th trip to the Tellus Museum. Many of our students were able to go last year, and cannot wait to get back! First grade will be learning all about weather, which connects perfectly with our science curriculum right now.
Please make sure to sign and return forms and field trip money by Wednesday, February 4th!

A Peek at our Week!
Reading/Language Arts: We will be using the comparative endings -er and -est, looking at the consonant ending -dge in words, identifying and discussing the components of a drama/play and practicing writing a scene from a play, and using textual evidence to form conclusions as we read.
Spelling Words: faster, fastest, taller, tallest, shorter, shortest, sadder, saddest, bigger, biggest, before, does, good-bye, oh, right, won’t
Science: We will be starting our next chapter on weather. We will be discussing seasonal changes, exploring the water cycle, and identifying different types of weather.
Social Studies: We will look at snapshots of various children from across the world to compare and contrast their cultures. We will also use graphics to gather information. We will be reviewing culture for our chapter 4 test on the following Tuesday, February 3.
