Even during their residency they usually get paid around 65 thousand dollars but when they come out of residency, their salary jumps up. Anesthesiology is an extremely competitive profession. There are many steps in the application process and even if you make it all the way through medical school, you are still not garunteed a position in residency. You must apply then go through interviews for any position that is offered to you.

Anesthesiology is a growing profession but there are still more anesthesiologists needed. It is however a very competitive profession in which the top candidates get the best jobs. The medical field will always need anesthesiologists but ever year the space for new employees gets smaller and smaller.
