Dear families,
I hope you and your family enjoyed the warmer weather over the weekend.
Just a quick reminder that students walking or are parent drop-off should be at school by 7:50. If your child is being dropped off after 7:55 you need to drop them off at the front door.
In this newsletter is information about our yearbook order, PTA t-shirt order, Teacher Appreciation, and registration for ICCSD online school.
Iowa Assessments (ISASP) information was emailed to parents of 3rd-6th graders. I have included it below as well.
JOIN US at the next PTA meeting on April 6th at 6:30 on zoom.

TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK!
Teacher Appreciation Week (May 3-7) is # 4 weeks away!
From your PTA: Honor doesn't have to cost much but should be heart-felt. This past year has made us appreciate and value our teachers, more than ever. During the week of May 3-7, we are encouraging everyone to get involved in appreciating our Longfellow teachers and staff. Get out your markers, paint, crazy glue, craft beads or any other materials to create something homemade to give to your teaching hero. Writing a letter full of meaningful affirmations, creating a picture to hang on the wall, or bringing something that reminds your student of their teacher are some ways we can all recognize the incredible staff we have at Longfellow.
In addition to personal, individual expressions of appreciation, the PTA would also like to provide communal treats. You can sign up for those here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0D4BA9AC23A5FE3-teacher2

ICCSD OLP Students and Families:
The Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress (ISASP) is the summative accountability assessment for all Iowa students that meets the requirements of the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). The assessments are aligned with the Iowa Core standards and provide a clear and accurate assessment of student learning outcomes. Student growth, proficiency and readiness indicators will be reported.
All students in Grades 3-11 are required to participate in ISASP testing. Students in these grades will take the Reading, Math, and Language Art/Writing tests. In addition, students in grades 5, 8, and 10 will take the Science test. Students in Grades K-2, or grade 12 DO NOT take the ISASP tests.
Iowa’s preferred mode of testing is in-person. In order to meet state requirements, OLP students in Grades 3-11 will need to come to campus for ISASP testing during our designated testing window. Students will need to attend 2-4 consecutive days of testing. Testing will occur by grade level between April 19th-May 14th.
Students in Grades 9-11 will take the tests on:
Tuesday, April 20 9:00-11:15 Reading and Math
Wednesday, April 21 9:00-11:15 Language Arts/Writing
Wednesday, April 21 12:45-2:15 10th Grade Science
Students in Grades 7-8 will take the tests on:

Tuesday, April 20 9:00-10:15 Math
Wednesday, April 21 9:00-11:15 Language Arts/Writing

Students in Grades 3-6 will take the tests on:
Monday, May 3 12:30-3:00 3rd Grade Reading and Math

Wednesday, May 12 12:30-2:00 5th Grade Science
Thursday, May 13 12:30-3:00 6th Grade Reading and Math
Friday, May 14 12:30-3:00 6th Grade Language Arts/Writing
Students will need to stay for the entire scheduled testing session and should bring something to read in case they finish early. Parents will need to drop their student off and return at the end of the testing session.Students must bring their school issued device, fully charged, and a power cord for testing. Headphones (if needed for text to speech) and a water bottle are also recommended.
Testing will take place at the student’s resident school. Grade level OLP teachers will serve as some of the proctors for the tests.
Testing rooms will follow COVID procedures that will allow for minimal interactions. Students will be physically distanced to the extent possible, students and staff will wear masks, and the area will be sanitized before and after each session.
Please sign up for a test session by completing the OLP Student Sign-Up for ISASP by Grade Level form. This form will need to be completed for each student in Grades 3-11. Please sign up by April 7th.

Dear ICCSD OLP Students and Families,
This message is intended to clarify the Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress (ISASP) information that you received yesterday. As indicated, all students in grades 3 through 11 are required to take the ISASP this spring. The preferred method of administration is on-site testing, as indicated by the Iowa Testing Program. However, there is an option available for families who wish to have their student participate off-site and the criteria for this selection is outlined below.. You have been asked to indicate your preference through the OLP Student Sign-Up for ISASP form.
For families who wish to have their student take the ISASP off-site, there will be a remote testing option available. Please respond “no” to the survey and provide a reason for this selection. This option is strictly controlled by the Iowa Department of Education with certain stipulations that we cannot change locally. The following requirements for remote ISASP administration have been outlined by the State of Iowa:
Should only be used for students who cannot test on-site.
Will be a different version of ISASP specifically created for remote administration.
Must be administered the last two weeks in May. This will be done through a Zoom format at a time designated by the district.
Will not have all testing accommodations that can be offered through an on-site administration.
Can only be administered in an online format; no paper version is available.
Will not have the same reports available to share with parents as the onsite version, but there will be a score report available to send home.
May not be included in district summary reports.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Diane Schumacher at schumacher.diane@iowacityschools.org.
Sincerely,
Diane Schumacher
