The Bray Blast
Parent Communication / February 1 - 28, 2019
From the Principal's Desk
We are headed into the long stretch of the school year. Winter and Spring season brings about colder weather, rain showers and May flowers. You have made some resolution for the new year and you are working very hard to achieve what you have set out to do. I know you are committed to one goal this year - "Perfect Attendance for YOUR Scholar!" Please do not allow my scholars to stay home unless they are sick. We have this 98% attendance goal and I still believe we can make it. For this to truly be a reality I need your help. I need EVERY SCHOLAR at school daily. We have crunched the numbers, did the math and we can only have approximately 15 scholars absent per week. We can still make our goal only if you bring my scholars to school DAILY. Bray Squad members are ready to take our scholars to the next level, but they must be in attendance for us to have an impact.
Our goal is 98% weekly attendance rate and I know that we can do it!
* Every Second Counts
* Attendance Matters
* Team Work Makes the Dream Work
Just a reminder:
The number one question I am asked by parents is, "How can I help my child at home?" Read to, with, and by your little scholar every night. The most impact any parent can have on their scholar's education and future is to foster a love of reading. Reading will unlock the doors to new worlds, opportunities, and a brighter future in any career path. Reading at home with your scholar for 20 minutes per day starting in Kindergarten will expose them to 1.8 million words per year. Start reading with your scholar today and open a world of opportunity and imagination tomorrow.
FLU SEASON UPDATE
If your child has flu-like symptoms, please keep them at home until they are fever free for at least 24 hours. Also, remind them to wash their hands or use hand sanitizer frequently, and cover their cough. The influenza vaccine is available at many doctors' offices and the health department. If your child is not exhibiting any of flu-like symptoms then your child should come to school.
Thank You,
Principal Sterling

4th/5th Black History Concert & PTA Meeting
4th - 5th Grade Parents,
Your scholar's grade will be performing at the PTA Meeting on Thursday, February 7th. This will be a very special concert from the 4th and 5th grade general music classes and Orff ensemble entitled "the Road to Freedom." Scholars will be performing music and dance honoring Black History Month.
It is VERY important that every scholar from 4th and 5th grade can attend this concert so that we don't have parts missing. This concert does not include scholars enrolled in orchestra, unless they are ALSO involved in the Orff Ensemble. The participation of every scholar counts, so PLEASE help our performance be successful by coming!
As an incentive, EVERY SCHOLAR who comes to the PTA meeting will receive a FREE BLUEJEANS PASS!
Scholars will meet at 6:00 p.m. so we can set up before the performance. The performance will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m.
4th Grade: Wear black pants and a solid RED shirt
5th Grade: Wear black pants and a solid Black shirt.
If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Tiffany Mosley, Bray Music Instructor
