WEEK 1:

Greetings Lakeshore Families!

CONGRATULATIONS! We did it! We have successfully completed our first week back!

It was so great to see all of our students again and have the opportunity to chat with many of you via email, Jupiter and phone last week. Each day, the highlight for me - and every teacher I spoke to - was getting to connect with students again. When I popped into classes, I was blown away at how similar it seemed to a typical in-person day. The students are adapting and making the best of a difficult situation. They are doing so well navigating their technology and participating and engaging with their peers and teachers in class.

We are striving to make online learning as similar to in-person learning as we can; this will make for an easy transition for the students and teachers when we eventually return to in-person learning. The start of the school year is so important to setting up the rest of the year. Our teachers are doing a masterful job. Just like they would normally do with in-person instruction at the start of the year, the beginning days (and weeks) of school have been busy teaching and modeling classroom expectations and routines. Most important, they are building and cultivating relationships and class/school community. By doing so, we ensure everyone feels safe, secure, and ready to learn and be their best selves while at school...even in a virtual setting.

Thank you again for all of your help and assistance with distance learning! We couldn't do it without your partnership! Please know if you ever need help or have questions with distance learning - reach out!

I cannot wait to see what fun and excitement week two brings! Your partner in education.
