The WJHS Panther Update
Sept. 29, 2023
Principal's Letter
Panther Families,
Hispanic Heritage Month is observed in the United States from September 15 to October 15. It celebrates the histories, cultures, and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, and South America. We have spent the last couple of weeks showcasing Latin American music in our hallways during passing periods as well as a daily "did you know" fact in our daily announcements. We will wrap up the month long celebration with a Hispanic Heritage spirit week! Read on for more information about that.
IAR Assessment Scores: IAR scores from last year were sent home with your student earlier this month. Please check your Childs backpack if you have not yet received those. If you have any questions, please contact your student's teachers.
EA Gaming Club (After School) - Our Gaming club is new to us this year and is an opportunity for students to socialize and have fun together based on their hobby of playing video games. Students will have an opportunity to play multi and single-player games and spend time discussing gaming strategies and preferences.
Available Consoles: We have two Nintendo Switches and an X Box that can be used during gaming club meetings. Games include Mario Kart, Rocket League, and other school-appropriate games. Students are also welcome to bring their own handheld consoles like Nintendo Switch, 2DS, and PlayStation Vita.
If your student is interested please know that this is a WEEKLY COMMITMENT and that they must attend WEEKLY. It is a highly coveted club, so if this is not something that they can commit to, please do not sign up.
The club will be starting in a few weeks (October date to be determined). The Club will be after school from 3:30 until 4:15 on a specified day once determined. They can take the 4:15 bus, which will be available, or you can arrange a ride for 4:15 on that day. Since space is limited, we will be accepting 20 students into the EA Club. Remember, this is a commitment and if you cannot make it weekly, please let someone who can sign up. Thank you.
