Counselors' Corner

All classrooms have been receiving instruction in the domains of early career awareness, academic success, and social emotional skills. This week, Primary & Lower Elementary learned about community helpers outdoors in a hands-on way in Careers on Wheels. We were happy to have in participation: City of Savannah Fire Department, Chatham County Mosquito Control, WTOC Storm Chaser, BowTie BBQ Food Truck, SWAT, and Savannah Metro Police Department and Mounted Patrol.

This week in Upper Elementary and Erdkinder, lessons continued Peace and Compassion, Volunteering, and Resume Building. 8th graders are being encouraged to begin volunteering this summer to work on community service requirements in high school.

We are so happy to serve as your school counselors. Resources are available on the School Counseling Website including a list of mental health professionals. Please reach out if we can be of further service. We hope you have a safe and relaxing spring break!

School-Wide Grace & Courtesy Focus

The language for identifying/naming COMPASSION in "The Self-Awakened Child" series by Jonathan Wolff:

  • When I care about other people as I care about myself, I am feeling Compassion.
  • When I see that other people are feeling hurt or sad and I do something to help them feel better, I am acting with Compassion.
