Principal's Message - Nov. 4th (English)
Happy Wednesday!
Can you believe that we are already in November? Wow! Time is flying in this school year. November is full of events. The Hispanic Heritage Festival is happening this Saturday night in the school Auditorium. It is an amazing event which showcases fantastic dancing by our very own students, incredible costumes made by the extremely talented Jackie Lemus and Erika Ruelas, and flavorful food from all around Latin America and Spain. Come and join us in the auditorium from 6 - 8 pm. Tickets are $7/person. For more information, contact Lizbeth at Eduran@hrrsjda.org.
Also, we are celebrating Veteran's Day on Monday, Nov. 9th at 2 pm in the Auditorium. The students will be singing some special songs and we will be honoring service members and veterans from our community. If you are a current or former member of the military or know someone who is, please join us on Monday afternoon. Military members are encouraged to wear their uniforms. Please remember that we will be closed on Wed, Nov. 11th in honor of this special day!
Have a wonderful week!

Curriculum Corner!!
Parents are critical members of a child's educational team. Only so much learning can occur at school, without reinforcement in the home. Because of this, we are committed to strengthening that partnership at Holy Rosary Regional School/Juan Diego Academy. In order to do this, we will be hosting Parent Information Nights on an assortment of educational topics this year. The first one was held on Wed, Sept. 30th. The focus was on bilingual education with a viewing of the film Speaking in Tongues and a parent discussion afterward.
Our next Parent Info Night will be held on Tues, Nov. 10th. The topic will be Student Organization. The focus will be on how to help your child become better organized and more involved in owning their educational experience. It will be from 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm in the 7th/8th grade classroom. Please join us!!
Questions about Curriculum?
Please submit questions for the next Curriculum Corner to Dr. Yaden at BYaden@plu.edu.
Development News!!
Crab Feed/Auction
It's that time of year to start thinking about auction/crab feed procurements/donations. Each family is responsible for supplying an auction item valued at $100. You can either pay the fee directly to the school or these items can be donated from a business. Some examples include: gift certificates to an experience, museum, family outing, or a professional service. Do you own a business or know someone that owns a business? This is an opportunity to ask for a donation. Businesses are often willing to donate as they can write the donation off on their taxes. Procurement/donation forms will be available soon. We are still in the process of securing a location and finalizing a date, so we will communicate this as soon as it is available. This is a very important fundraiser for our school. Your participation and assistance will help us reach our $100,000 fundraising goal.
Annual Fund Appeal
Recently, we sent out letters to each family talking about our Annual Fund Appeal that just kicked off. This year we are hoping to raise $150,000 for this fund. The funds raised help offset the costs of the curriculum upgrades and new music/band program that we rolled out this school year. As school families, you make a great sacrifice of time and money to send your children to Holy Rosary School. Catholic schools are unique as the partnership and dedication to student growth is a shared mission. We are asking you to make a donation to the Annual Fund Appeal. We are hoping for 100% support from families. A one time donation can be made or please consider a monthly pledge. Consider giving $25 a month for ten months which provides a total donation of $250. No amount is too small to make a difference. Thank you for your consideration in helping our school. We are about to turn an important milestone and your help can make a difference in the quality of the program we can offer!
