Round Trip Folders

Please make sure you are checking your child's "Round Trip" folder daily. Please take anything out that should be kept at home. I've had a lot of full folders returned. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!

Homeroom App

Earlier this week I sent an email for you to connect to a "Homeroom" App. I think many of you have already done this but it gives me the opportunity to post pictures and videos as we embark on this year together. If you were unable to connect let me know.

Supply Fees

There are still a few families who have not turned in supply fees for this school year. The supply fee of $25 goes toward our classroom supplies (pencils, crayons, glue, etc) and other things for our classroom that we use throughout the year.

You can pay the fee online in your child's Infinite Campus profile or you can send check with your child made out to "Jackson Elementary." You may also send cash with your child as well. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks so much!

What did we learn this week?

Reading: We began learning our letter sounds through zoo phonics. We also learned how to "turn and talk" with our partners on the carpet during a read aloud.

Writing: I started modeling the beginning process of writing as the students telling a story orally that match the picture they are drawing.

Phonics: We learned the poem "Good Morning To You." We learned our first high frequency word "to" and illustrated the poem for our poetry binders.

Math: We took the numbers 1-3 and talked about different ways we see that number. We created a chart and showed each number in different ways. (cubes, tallies, finger flashing, and ten-frames)

*We have also had the opportunity for "extra recess" each day as we build our stamina to learn. The students have had a lot of fun on the playground and in the classroom exploring fun things and making new friends!
