PCMS WEEKLY UPDATE
February 19, 2021
Good Afternoon PCMS Families,
Wow, what a stretch of weather!! Just a couple of quick notes to pay attention to below … 1) Our Spring Parent-Teacher Conferences are again virtual and will be this Wednesday from 2-7pm. 2) Next week 6th & 7th- grade students will be selecting their classes for next year. We used to send course selection forms home in backpacks, but a middle schooler’s backpack is like a black hole most of the time! This year we’re having them fill it out with you on THEIR school computer. (They’ll need to log in and complete this with you.) These are due by next Friday.
Have a great weekend, enjoy the warmer weather, and GO PIRATES!!
March 1 Return to Full In-Person Learning
As you all know, we are getting ready to go full in-person learning on Mon, Mar 1. As we prepare for this, some adjustments will need to be made to student schedules as we combine A and B students into one classroom beginning on Mar 1. We will be communicating changes to students and parents next week before coming back full in-person on Mar 1. We have attempted to keep the changes to a minimum while also trying to keep the class sizes as small as possible in order to maintain as much social distancing as possible.
Thank you in advance for your understanding!
Message to 6th & 7th Grade Parents
Next week your student will complete their course requests for the 2021-22 academic school year. This year, we will have students complete their course requests via a google form. Students will need to use their school email account to complete the form. We want all students to complete this short form with their parents/guardians to make sure you all approve of their selections.
All PCMS students will have Math, English, Social Studies, Science, FLEX, and one semester of PE. So… they are only choosing their remaining elective courses. All Course Request Forms will be due by next Fri, Feb 26. It is critical that we get this information, as we use the data to help build the master schedule, determine the number of course sections, etc. We will send out a link to your students on Monday and Tuesday.
Parent Teacher Conferences - Early Release, Feb 24
In case you missed the special communication which was sent out on Wed, Feb 17:
PCMS will again be conducting our upcoming PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES virtually. These conferences are Wed, Feb 24 from 2-7pm, and will be conducted via Google Meets. The purpose of these particular conferences is primarily to meet with families of students who need extra support, either academically or behaviorally.
Teachers have begun reaching out to families where they feel a conference is necessary. Additionally, if you would like to schedule a conference with any of your child's teachers, click here to sign up.
Please Note: Time slots are limited since these conferences only run one day.
Last Call for Return of Coupon Books and/or Money
If your student received a SavAround Coupon Book and has not returned the book or money for purchase ($25 per book), please send it to school with them on their next in-person day, Mon (B-Group) or Tues (A-Group).
Thank you to all who purchased and/or helped with selling SaveAround Coupon Books as part of our PTO’s fundraising campaign! This is a win/win for all, as there are some great saving opportunities in the book!

The Trolley Run is a competitive 4 mile race that takes place down in Kansas City on Sun, Apr 25. Training begins Mon, Mar 8. Watch for more information on how to get signed up for this activity soon!
Please send a water bottle with your child each day!
We continue to stress the importance of sending your child to school with a water bottle every day. Our drinking fountains continue to be turned off until further notice. Students need to bring a water bottle from home that they can fill (or refill) using one of our four water filling stations. We appreciate your understanding and help with this, so we can keep our students healthy and hydrated!
