George Southard's Family News
Labor Day Edition
Opening Week Welcome!
We are so excited to be opening our doors to students this week. The teachers and staff have been exceptional in preparing for both in person and remote instruction. Remember this type of teaching and learning is new for all of us and it's important that we remain patient with one another as we navigate technology, distribute and submit work, and maintain physical, mental, and emotional health.
Each week your child will receive a Weekly Template from your teacher that includes all the lessons and activities your child needs to complete remotely. This template will include any times your child needs to join a Google Meet (live) with their teacher and all the links needed for any videos, apps, or websites needed to learn. Teachers will be available for Office Hours during specific times Wednesday afternoons to help you or your child with your needs. Our goal is to make remote instruction easy to access for families but grade level appropriate for students.
As always, feel free to email your child's teacher directly or call the Main Office if you have any feedback, questions, or concerns.
Please continue to read the information below depending on your child's enrollment in the HYBRID Model or the FULLY REMOTE Model
Read only if you are in the HYBRID MODEL
Tuesday 9/8- First Day In Person for BLUE students
Wednesday 9/9- Remote Day for ALL students
Thursday 9/10- First Day In Person for GOLD students
Please remember to...
1. Take your child's temperature before school and keep home if sick or symptomatic.
2. Pack an extra face covering in case one gets soiled. Disposable face coverings will be provided if needed.
3. Send in a water bottle as water fountains will only be used for the refilling of water bottles.
Morning Drop Off Procedure (Locust Street Loop)
*A drop off loop will be in place for your convenience and safety. If you prefer to walk your child to the front door, you may park on Locust Street and walk up to the entrance. Parents will not be permitted past the metal rails or in the bus loop, so say your goodbyes at that time.
Students in grades K-2 enter through Door 1, and students in grades 3-4 enter through Door 2.
Drop-offs should arrive between 9:10 and 9:20. Please do not drop off your child before that time, as there is no supervision.
While waiting in the loop, please have your child ready to exit the vehicle- face covering on, seat belt removed, backpack and other belongings in hand, and preferably exit from the passenger side of the vehicle.
Drivers should remain in the vehicle to make the process as safe and efficient as possible.
All students will have their temperature screened upon entry.
Afternoon Dismissal
Kindergarten (Door 1): 3:25
Second Grade (Door 1 and Door 2): 3:30
First (Door 1) and Third Grade (Door 2): 3:35
Fourth (Door 2): 3:35
In order to maintain physical distancing guidelines, we ask that you do not unexpectedly pick up your child between 3:00 and 3:35pm, as this creates unnecessary traffic in the office at the end of the day.
Please send in a written note with your child if there are any changes to their afternoon dismissal.
All students must be picked up by 3:35pm.
Read only if you are in the FULLY REMOTE MODEL
