West Point El. Parent Update
Week of February 5, 2024
Dear West Point Families,
Happy February! We are excited about this new month and the many learning opportunities that are planned for our students. Here are four important things to know for the coming week.
- Our Student Council is selling Friendship Grams this Friday, February 9 during lunch. See below for more information.
- This week is School Counselor Appreciation Week. We would like to thank our counselor, Sarah Robinson, for the fabulous job she does with our students!
- This month's PTA meeting is Thursday, February 8 at 9:00 a.m. in the Faculty Room. All are invited to attend! We are still looking for volunteers for next year's board.
- Yearbooks are now $18.00 and can be purchased through your myDSD account. March 31 is the last day to order yearbooks online and be guaranteed a book. After that date, yearbooks will be sold in the office on a first come, first served basis depending on whether or not we have any surplus books.
Sincerely,
Marjorie Conrad and Michelle Yoho
Principal and Assistant Principal, West Point Elementary

School Information
Friendship Grams
Friendship grams will be sold at lunch on Friday, February 9 only. They will be sold for 25 cents each. The student purchasing the friendship gram needs to know the name of the student the valentine is going to and that student's teacher's name. Student Council will help pass out the friendship grams on Valentine's Day.
February School Missions
This month we have two missions! The first mission is for students to complete the reading challenge (below). Students will bring the reading challenge home this week (pink paper). Our goal is to encourage students to read 20 minutes each day, and we hope this challenge will be a fun way to reinforce this very important practice.
Students will also have the chance to work on a bonus mission during school this month. We are calling it our Friendship Edition, and students will be encouraged to do specific things throughout the month that build others up and create a culture of kindness. Please ask your students about the things they are doing for this challenge throughout the month.
Our PTA Mission is to give someone a compliment, which goes hand in hand with our Bonus Friendship Edition!
