Please encourage ALL of your students to join the KHMS Library class in Canvas.

We will use this class to share reading challenges and contests, provide fun choice boards and learning opportunities, and to communicate with students regarding books they have put on hold, etc.

Ready to Read

Lone Star Reading Challenge

Inviting ALL readers!

The Lone Star reading list is developed by public and school librarians from the Young Adult Round Table. The purpose of the list is to encourage students in grades 6, 7, or 8 to explore a variety of current books.

Teachers are invited to schedule an introduction lesson to kick off the Lone Star Reading Challenge. Email Mrs. Howk if you are interested whowk@judsonisd.org.

You may also place the link to the challenge in your Canvas or Google classrooms for easy student access.

TECH TIPS

Tech Support Available M/T/Th/F during Flight Time & All Day Wednesdays

In order to more fully support instruction in the library, we are asking your assistance in limiting technology troubleshooting visits to flight time or flexibly through the day on Wednesdays. Students may continue to come in on their own before school.

Here are a few of our must standard tips when troubleshooting:

  • Properly shut down the chromebook (using the button on the screen, not the one on the keyboard). Then restart.
  • Check for chrome updates (the lack of updates can cause all sorts of problems - inability to open apps, frozen mouse pad, smaller than normal screen, etc)
  • Call Help Desk (have the students call using their phone - we don't call for them)
  • Check out this handy tip sheet from Metzger librarian Melissa Stovall.

Info you may like to know:

  • We have set up 8 chromebooks for students to use in the library if they have forgotten their chromebooks. This is in lieu of sending out loaners, since we have limited extras.
  • We have set up a charging cart in the library. Students may drop off their chromebook during the day if they forgot - we have stickers available for them to label devices. This will be in lieu of loaning out chargers, since we are very short on HP chargers, which is the majority of our chromebooks.
