HELP! Yearbook Pics Needed!
Due to changes in Pictavo’s software we can no longer use pictures we have downloaded off of Facebook.
Therefore, we need you to upload the pictures to the google drive or if easier please email to Danielle Fitts by Thursday. We are asking every homeroom teacher to provide 4-5 candids from their homeroom. We are also needing Blue bear festival, trunk or treat, Father Daughter, etc….
We need these pictures by Thursday because we are at the deadline for submitting the yearbook.
Action Item:
Upload your class pictures to Google Drive by THIS Thursday.
Save the Date: Forsyth County Drug Summit
The Forsyth County Drug Summit will be held at the Forsyth County Conference Center on March 19 at 6:00 p.m.
Curriculum Corner
The President just called! He would like for you to create a new American Symbol for our country. What symbol would you choose and what does it represent?
The students were given a table full of random craft items such as ribbon, construction paper, cotton balls, Popsicle sticks, etc. to create their symbol. Each student wrote about why they chose their symbol and what it represents. Some of the students' responses were:
Black Panther: Strength and Courage
Book Symbol: We are smart.
Male Statue of Liberty: We work together.
This is a fantastic example of making a "real world" connection and applying the concepts learned to extend the learning!
Adding Chrome Extensions
All faculty and staff (not students) now have the ability to add extensions from an approved list to their Chrome web browser! Note that extensions will NOT work on a phone or tablet.
Some words of caution:
The only extensions that can be installed are the ones on the list. Because I can't possibly know every extension that every teacher would want, I have also created a Form that can be used to suggest new extensions that teachers would like to be added to the list.
· Find the Whitelisted Extensions list HERE.
· Fill out the Form to suggest new extensions HERE.
This will work best if you log in to your Chrome browser so that extensions can be used on different devices. If instructions are needed, you can see them below:
Don't go crazy and start installing all the extensions just because they're available! Find the ones that work for you because you NEED them. The joy of this is that YOU get to choose what you need. There's no need to have everything just because you can.
Lastly, go slow. To help with troubleshooting in case something DOES go wrong, it's helpful to install only 1-2 extensions at a time. Use those for a few hours or days and then install a couple more. That way, if it seems like some don't play nice together, it's easier to track back to figure out which ones to remove. ENJOY!!!
Digital Breakouts
First Grade
First Grade wants to give Carol Ann a Huge Shout Out for creating three breakout sessions for us! After completing our first Thanksgiving Breakout Session, our students were asking for more! With that, she created our Christmas and Valentine’s Day sessions! These sessions allowed us to review all standards that we have covered while the students were actively engaged!
Fourth Grade
Fourth Grade classes participated a Western Expansion Digital Breakout as an introduction to their Western Expansion Unit. Kim Hobbs and Carol Ann facilitated this breakout in the Media Center for the entire 4th Grade Team. The students had a blast!
Action Item
Let Carol Ann or Kim know if you would like your class to participate in a Digital Breakout!
