Golap Pithas
These delicious looking treats are part of Christmas traditions in Bangladesh. They were made by two 8th grade students as an extension to the project "Christmas Around the World" The 8th grade ELA students researched 31 different countries to find out the unique ways Christmas is celebrated across thre globe. They are still on display outside the office!
Traveling the Globe
Instead of having students present their findings, they participated in a Gallery Walk and were able to view and answer questions on the countries from each class.
It's Not all Fortnite dances
Seventh grade math students are learning cribbage this week. If you haven't ever played this game stop by room 104 and get a lesson from the kids! They are quickly developing into competitors
What does South Dakota Have?
Roger Musick from Innovative Systems stopped by this week to explain to some 6th graders what the company does and how it relates to what they are learning. He took it a step further and highlighted all of the educational and business opportunities available in Mitchell and across the great state of South Dakota.
Just a Few Projects
The 8th graders have been bringing in some of the projects for their current U.S. History Unit. Our kids have a lot of talent!
As an educator I hope I never forget___________________________!
There were great responses to this question last week! Thank you, everyone! Here are a few of them:
- That relationships matter most!
- To always be kind.
- That even on my works day-in the classroom, I might be some child's best hope. Stay firm, yet kind.
- to be patient
- the good ones
- That my students will not remember what they learned in class, but they will never forget how I made them feel.
- That it's all about the kind.
