Parents, are you familiar with the current Tik Tok Challenges & Trends?
Here's how families can help:
We know that social media can be very influential and our Bobcats need guidance and support from both home and school. So, let's work together to keep our student safe and focused on making good decisions.
At school, we'll continue to focus on TRACKS expectations and consistent reminders about how each student can positively contribute to the culture of our campus. We will be clear about expectations and consequences.
At home, please take this opportunity to discuss the importance of good citizenship with your child(ren). Go through your child's social media accounts with him/her and be sure that you are "in the know" when it comes to current trends. Finally, it is always valuable to discuss the feelings we experience with "likes" and "views" on social media, verses our feelings when we experience real life consequences because we participated in a negative social media trend.
We know that life has us handling so many challenges right now, but we are here to take on the challenges together and make sure that our students continue to stay #bobcatstrong.
Thank you for your support!

All Things EQ Message (from the founder Danna Evans):
The motto next week is:
I don't trade what I want most for what I want now.
This week the focus is on the ability to delay gratification. James Clear wrote a helpful article about Delayed Gratification. This link will take you to the article.
The headline reads:
40 Years of Stanford Research Found That People
With This One Quality,
Are More Likely to Succeed.
What is that one quality? The ability to delay gratification. Being able to put off immediate gratification for something more important later is a crucial component to success.
The best news about teaching your child how to delay gratification is that it can be learned. Just as we can increase our strength at the gym, we can improve our ability to delay gratification.
You can help your child understand the concept of delayed gratification by asking, "Would this make your future self happy?" When they think about that question, it may help them connect to what is important to them down the road, so they are willing to work for it now.
Keeping what you want in mind is the first step to attaining it. When you see your child making short-term decisions, help them connect to what they want more, rather than what they want now. It can also help to share with them how, when you take action and get your work done, you often feel better because contributing to your future success usually feels better than avoiding your current obligations.
Here are some picture books that can help explain this better for younger children:
• The Carrot Seed by Ruth Krauss
• Someday by Eileen Spinelli
• Joe the Monkey Saves for a Goal by John Lanza & Marylin Walton
