Warm Winter Wishes

Mother Nature has reminded us that we are still in the midst of winter this week, BRRR! We have enjoyed the excitement of watching it snow during the school day and have appreciated our warm and cozy school while we stayed indoors for recess and PE. Warmer weather will be returning next week, but please ensure that your child arrives to school each day dressed for winter temperatures and winds so he or she may enjoy outdoor recess.

Early Dismissal Friday, January 14

Don't forget that next Friday, January 14 is a Noon Dismissal Day to provide professional development time for St. Mary's faculty members. We will be dismissing students using the car line system, so please make sure you have your family's car line sign with you to help dismissal go smoothly and quickly.


Parents of half-day preschool students should come into the school at 11:00 a.m. to pick up their child from his or her classroom door as usual. Full-day preschool and all elementary students will be dismissed through the car line at 3:10 p.m. As a reminder, families with last names starting with letters A-M will dismiss from the front of the school, families with last names starting with letters N-Z will dismiss from the southeast parking lot that exits onto 32nd Street. After School Care will be available until 5:30 p.m.


In addition to Friday's early dismissal, please remember there will be no school on Monday, January 17 in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. School will resume on Tuesday, January 18.

Last Day to Order Yearbooks with Early Bird Pricing

Today is the last day to order St. Mary's annual school yearbook with Early Bird Pricing! Early Bird Pricing is $15 per yearbook which changes to $20 per yearbook after today. St. Mary’s has a wonderful yearbook filled with great photos and memories from each school year, and 2021-2022 is going to be a year to remember! Please give the office a call at 623-1465 with any questions you have. Miss Amy always does a great job with the yearbook and you won’t want to miss getting a copy for your child!


If you don't have an order form at home, you may order online through Inter-State using the following link and required St. Mary's code. Here is the link for ordering a yearbook: www.inter-state.com/order. The required code for St. Mary’s is 64501X. Please let us know if you have any other questions or if we can help you in any way.

32nd Street Construction

As you may know, the construction project on 32nd Street is underway and sections of the road will be closed to thru traffic for several months. Starting on January 10, 32nd Street will be closed from Schifferdecker Avenue to the entrance of Westberry Square subdivision. Detour routes will be posted and access to local properties will be maintained throughout the construction project. This specific closure will be in place through mid-April and is the first of multiple closures on different sections of 32nd Street.


This is a long-term road project with an estimated completion date set for summer 2023. The road improvement will widen 32nd Street from Schifferdecker Avenue west to Central City Road. When completed, 32nd Street will have a center lane and a sidewalk/shared use path. The 3/8 cent Capital Improvement Sales Tax is funding the $8 million project. When the project is completed, the road will be much smoother, wider, and safer. In the meantime, there will be detours and alternate ways to reach St. Mary's.

Catholic Schools Week

Catholic Schools Week is quickly approaching and will be held nationally from January 30- February 5, 2022. This is a meaningful and fun week for our school as we highlight and celebrate special aspects of our school community each day. More information will be provided in the weeks to come including dress themes for each day, special activities, and fun events. Catholic Schools Week is a great week that celebrates the mission and beauty a Catholic education provides.
