The Manning Weekly Update
February 18, 2022
Manning Community,
I hope you've had a great week and are ready for an incredible weekend with weather nearing 60 degrees! These are the types of weekends where you can head up the hill in the morning with your ski gear and come down the hill in the afternoon to bask in the sun of our beautiful city. I hope you all find time to rest and relax during this holiday weekend, and have some fun as well! Just a reminder that President's Day is on Monday, so there is no school for students. We will see all our awesome kids back on Tuesday!
I seldom send out community messages regarding behavior of our student population, but we are seeing a behavior throughout our school that is becoming more prevalent and we need your help to address it. The behavior we are seeing more frequently is called "zapping". "Zapping" is where students are taking their index/middle fingers and poking their friends. We are not going to tolerate this behavior going forward. We were very clear with all students during their grade level meetings in October about keeping your hands to yourself, and we couldn't be any clearer now. Please speak with your child/children this weekend and please reiterate the message to keep their hands to themselves.
On a lighter note, we hope that you will join us for our PTA meeting next Thursday evening, 2/24, at 5:30 p.m. This meeting will be on Zoom (link below). Our PTA is so important to Manning and we are so grateful for their support.

Also, I want to thank PTA for organizing the "load the lounge" effort and all the 6th grade families that donated food and drink to this wonderful initiative. Our teachers and staff are so grateful and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Better Together,

ALERT - Important Upcoming Bridge Replacement I-70 & 32nd Ave
Attention Manning Parents and Guardians:
Please review the following information regarding the upcoming bridge replacement construction that may impact your and your student's commute to and from Manning. The project will begin mid-February 2022 and is expected to be completed in the late Fall 2023.
We recommend that Manning Parents and Guardians familiarize themselves with the project details to find an alternate route or allocate extra time if needed.
We are also asking parents to try and minimize the student walking traffic around this intersection before and after school.
The two documents are available in printed form in the main office or in pdf format in the most recent Manning Weekly Newsletter. Please refer to the digital pdf to access the links included on the documents.
Day Without Hate - Friday, April 29th
A Day Without Hate is a student-led, grassroots organization that promotes nonviolence, respect, and unity within our schools. Help your child join his/her fellow students district wide to help end school violence and promote peace. By encouraging students to be tolerant, friendly and kind, and teaching them that there are non-violent solutions to problems, we as a community, can create a better world.
We will be passing out shirts the week of the April 25th, to students in their access classes.
Manning Parents - Spring Parent Teacher Conferences Info
Spring Parent/Teacher Conferences:
Thursday, February 24th, 4:00-7:30 p.m. (Invite and In-Person Only)
- As is typical with spring conferences, Manning teachers will be holding conferences with families on an “invite only” basis. Teachers have been asked to reach out to you by end of business today to schedule these in-person conferences with you and your child.
- Please note: If your student has a teacher for both a core class and an elective, you will only have the one time slot to meet with them to discuss both classes.
- In addition, please continue to monitor your students' attendance and grades in our online grading/attendance system, Infinite Campus. Of course if you have any questions, please feel free to email your students' teacher or counselor.
- Of course, at any time, you are more than welcome to email any teacher to set up a time to talk about your student's progress.
