News You Can Use
Pre-enrollment--We are beginning to think about the 2018-19 school year. If your child will attend Cottonwood next year and be in grades 1-5, please go to Pre-Enrollment Form. More information about Kindergarten will be on the district website and we will include it in our next newsletter.
District Climate Survey--Please take a few minutes and complete the district climate survey. It always helps to know how we are doing and how we can get better.
Cottonwood Bond Update--The work has begun. Last week, the students got to watch as the bulldozers and workers started leveling and digging the site for the new addition. They moved a lot of dirt. We are looking forward to seeing what happens next!
USD385 Bond Update--Want to follow the progress throughout the district? Check out the website for news and pictures. Click here
Lost and Found--We have several jackets, coats, and sweatshirts in Lost and Found. We try to remind students to check it out, but we seem to have more lost than found. It is located right by the nurse's office.
Winter Recess—Recess is held outside whenever possible. We all need fresh air and the chance to run around. Teachers monitor wind chills and temperature before going outside. Please make sure your child dresses appropriately for cold weather. Coats, hats, and gloves are sometimes a must! If you have questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to call.
Snow Days: If for some reason, school is canceled because of weather, you can check the local news stations for closings. The Andover Schools will send out a School Messenger call to let parents know of closings. School Messenger only calls updated numbers in PowerSchool, so please keep your information current.
The fence is up and surrounds the construction area.

Luge, shalom, skeleton and curling. Do you know what these words mean? Cottonwood students do not either, yet! These are events in the Olympics. Students are going to use reference books and internet resources to define and learn about these events and more.
We are looking forward to learning more together!

Nurse's News
The flu season has hit hard this year and we are seeing a variety of symptoms in our health office. It is not too late to get a flu shot.
It is district policy, if your student has a fever or has vomited, they must remain at home until he or she is fever free/ vomit free for 24 hours without the use of medication.
Please continue to talk with your students about hand washing, covering your mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing.
Thank you to everyone who has donated to the health office in the past. We truly appreciate your support. Currently, we are in need of clean , gently used pants for both boys and girls sizes 4-6, and underwear for girls size 4-6.
Stay Healthy!

Breafast is served from 8:20-8:50.
After school dismissal is at 3:45. Please continue to follow the traffic patterns. It helps the adults if you have the name cards in the side windows. If you have suggestions on how to make our process and flow of traffic safer, feel free to share your ideas.
