Emma Woodhouse is your go-to-girl. She is, "handsome, clever, rich, with a comfortable home and happy disposition..." (Austen 3). She is almost twenty one years old and has a sister and father. When she was very young, too young to remember, her mother passed away. But in her place, Emma was raised by a lovely governess named, Miss Taylor and her sweet yet fidgety father. She and her family are very high up on the social status ladder in Highbury, England and live in a lovely home called Hartfield. Emma is witty young girl who after helped her governess get married, feels like she could match make anyone. Emma always loves to put her nose in other's business and to help others with their relationships. She loves finding things to do. In, the novel, she decides to make Miss Harriet Smith her new project (20). However, she tends to put her nose in others business and her foot in her mouth. These sorts of qualities get her into trouble and make her very snobby, prideful, and blinded to others and their needs.
