Respect
- Acknowledge each person's basic dignity.
- Have empathy for every person's life situation.
- Listen to and encourage each other's opinions and input.
- Validate other people's contributions.
- Avoid gossip, teasing and other unprofessional behavior.
Earning someones' respect is more about action than words. I can respect an athlete like Tom Brady for his abilities, but I would have to get to know him as a person for my respect to be based on more than his ability to throw a football. I've never spent a minute talking with him, but I sure can come up with some opinions about him that may or may not be favorable. Now I'm getting dangerously close to judging a person who I don't even know. Not good.
At Cedarhome, we want our students and staff to demonstrate respect to one another through actions and kind words. Giving or earning respect is always a personal choice.
I really like number one in the above list. "Acknowledging each person's basic dignity." This seems like a great place to start. Take care.

Kindergarten Registration
The district has opened kindergarten registration for the 2021-22 school year. Please check your school’s website for information.
COVID-19 Student Survey
The secondary schools in our district will participate in the COVID-19 Student Survey in order to gather data about our students and support needed as they re-enter in-person learning. More information from OSPI about the survey is below:
The Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI), Washington State Department of Health (DOH), Health Care Authority (HCA) and a team at the University of Washington (UW) have made the “COVID-19 Student Survey” available for schools to administer this spring.
In an effort to support schools and communities, state agencies partnered to support this effort to collect information about young people’s experiences over this past year during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The survey is anonymous, voluntary, and for students in grades 6 through 12.
Topics on the survey include but are not limited to social support, remote learning experiences, mental health, physical health, COVID-19 precautions, and substance use.
The survey will be scheduled sometime between March 8-March 26.

Yearbooks
Hello Everyone!
Are you thinking yearbooks? We are! From strict remote learning, to some schools alternating “A” and “B” students, it has been nothing short of a year of uncertainty. One thing is for certain though – Yearbooks are happening, and you can order yours now! We are working hard to create fun and unique yearbooks this year. Below is the link to our quick and easy order form. This yearbook will be one-of-a-kind so don’t miss out on this opportunity!
The process is easy and takes no more than a couple minutes. Remember to double check that your school’s yearbook is selected when checking out! Follow the link at the end of this message to order your yearbook.
To make these yearbooks special, we would like to ask for your help! Yes – YOU! The most vital tool to keep us safe this year has also become one of the most simple and customizable fashion accessories. We would love to see your favorite and most stylish masks in a Mask Fashion feature page. So, pull out the camera, capture a nice image of your student wearing their favorite mask and submit it to us here at fireflyyrbk@comcast.net - This opportunity will expire once we have enough pictures for the page, or we hit the deadline of March 3 rd, whichever happens first. Be sure to name the file with your student’s name and the school they attend so we know what book to put them in! The image should show above the student’s head down to the mid-chest, we will crop it from there. Keep the background simple and be sure that it is a JPG and not too dark or too bright. Firefly Images appreciates all your help in making this yearbook the best it can be!
Thank you,

PTO Happenings! (Reminder)
Hello Grizzly Families!
PTO is getting ready for some exciting virtual events and fundraisers! Even with these uncertain times of no volunteers at the school, we still want you to be a member of the PTO! In a normal school year being a member of the PTO means you would be more connected with what's happening at Cedarhome. Staff appreciation days, fundraisers, ice cream and popcorn sales and other great events are an example of what you would be a part of.
If you would like to be more involved in the decision making process, we currently have open board positions available. Our Vice President and Secretary positions would love to have you! Please reach out to Amy Walton at Cedarhomepto@gmail.com for more information!
Teachers and staff at Cedarhome love seeing students dressed in our Griz Wear apparel. Please use the form below to order a short sleeve, long sleeve or hooded sweatshirt! Youth and adult sizes available.

Read Across America (Reminder)
Cedarhome will be celebrating "Read Across America" once again this year from March 1st-19th. The official kick-off date is March 2nd, which is also Dr. Seuss' birthday! The theme this year is, "Put Your Best Foot Forward And Read A Good Book." Our librarian, Mrs. Arnestad, is planning a host of activities for our students and staff to be involved in for the three weeks of Read Across America. Be looking for more information to come home this week. This is always a fun time for our building, though much different than non-COVID times. No matter, we are going to celebrate the adventure of reading a good book!
