Transportation and Industrial North
Improvements in Transportation
The improvements in transportation made traveling faster and easier. The two new ways of traveling were by a steamboat or a train. The new transportations helped a lot the businesses because it reduced time and cost of shipping. The steamboat and train carried goods and people across the Atlantic.
Steamboat
The steamboat was used for water travel and to carry goods to the Atlantic.
Train
The train was used to carry goods and travel overland.
Train
The train did what the steamboat did in overland travel.
Industrial development and Working Conditions
In the past, making textiles needed a lot of time and people. After they made technological improvements, it took less time to build textiles and people began building textile mills or factories near the river. This created more employment and people started hiring young unmarried women. The work conditions employees faced were that they had to work 14 hours a day and that many people are getting injured by some of the work supplies they use.
