Science with Ms. Hoyle
In science students will be exploring the different types of interactions that can be found in an ecosystem. Students will also do a lab were they look at adaptations between different birds and their beaks. Students will soon be taking their Chapter 1 test. In science the students are able to use their notebooks on many assessments, so it is important that they follow directions to both complete the work we put into the notebook, but also follow directions on when and where to glue in the work. The notebook is graded separately as well, so it is important that students get help if they fall behind with completing their notebooks.
Math with Mrs. Bange
In math this week, we will begin finding ratios of fractions and their unit rates. We will also solve multi-step ratio problems and create graphs involving fractions. Students should have problem sets 1-1 through 1-5, 1-7 through 1-8, and 1-10 completed. If your student needs extra support in math or is missing several assignments, please encourage him/her to find a time to come in and get help. I am available before school or during students' lunch.
English with Ms. Griem
Language Arts is finishing The Outsiders this week! We will be discussing theme and practicing paragraph writing. Remind your students the end of the first quarter is October 11th. If students are missing assessments they need to make arrangements to take them. I will be doing my best to pursue students to help them get assignments handed in, but ultimately it is their responsibility. Also keep in mind that in my class students can redo assignments until they score 100% on them, even TEST (80%) grades, but it is there responsibility to do so.

World Geography with Mr. Akagi
Next week, students will wrap up Unit 1 of World Geography by writing a paragraph, summarizing what they’ve learned about Geography, and how it applies to their lives. On Friday we prepped for this paragraph, so as long as students took good notes, and study a bit this weekend, they’ll do great on Monday. With Unit 1 wrapped up, we’ll start exploring our world in earnest, beginning our new unit on the United States and Canada! Starting in the US at least should be pretty familiar, and I’m sure students will have a leg up in basic knowledge! We’ll be taking some notes, comparing the two nations, and using our Discover Ed. Techbook to further explore the region in this first week.
