READ-A-THON 2021
We are excited to have our annual Read-A-Thon again this year. A Read-A-Thon is designed to reinforce good reading habits while raising funds for our school. This year, our Read-A-Thon will be on Tuesday, March 2nd. Students are allowed to bring a special blanket to cuddle up and read with. We will have a fun day of virtual guest readers, staff guest readers, and independent reading time to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday.
This event gives children, parents, teachers, and all of the Sparta community an excellent chance to come together in the name of reading! This is also an opportunity to raise money for the Sparta Elementary activity account. The monies raised will be used for library books and classroom libraries.
Part of what makes Sparta so special is the sheer amount of parent and community participation! Let’s continue to work together to build these special Sparta traditions, like the Read-A-Thon, into events that our children and community remember.
Beginning February 15th, students can collect money at home. All donations must be complete and ready to turn in no later than Friday, March 5th to be eligible for prizes. In order to be eligible for prizes, all money must be returned to your child’s homeroom teacher by 2:45pm on March 5th .
Prizes for the 2019 Sparta Read-A-Thon:
$30.00 Snow Cone Party – March 8th
$40.00 Extra Recess with snacks (plus previous prize) – March 8th
$80.00 Dance Party with cookies and a drink (plus previous prizes) – March 12th

Arrival and Dismissal
AM Walk Ups- The students have done a tremendous job entering the correct door and making their way to their classes! Our crowds have thinned, so next week we will only use our front doors and we will have staff there to redirect students. The front doors are locked at 7:40am. After that time, all students must enter through the office door.
ALL TRANSPORTATION CHANGES MUST BE CALLED IN TO THE OFFICE BY 2:00PM. Please do not email the teacher. They are teaching, so will not be checking their email.
CALL- 215-3600 for any changes.
PM Car Riders- This is for parents to drive through. We are working to get students dismissed faster. You can help by having your students(s) first and last name displayed in your car.
PM Atrium- This is for parents to walk up to the side entrance of our cafeteria and pick up their child. It is different than a car rider. :)
Walkers/Bike Riders- Our students are dismissed through the gate to Chisholm Trail Park. Please do not come to the doors of Sparta to pick them up. If it is storming (thunder and lightning) we hold them until it clears. If it is raining, we dismiss them. Please watch the weather and call the office if you need to change your child's way home.
