From the Principal
Dear Parents,
What a great first week of school. In fifteen years, I am not sure I have had an opening as smooth as this year! Thanks to you and the fabulous staff at CCES we have made it through the first five days with ease. Let me begin by saying if you are not following me on Twitter, you are missing out. My name is CCES_Principal and this week I posted 32 selfies that included all of our homeroom classes. Your kids were overjoyed by the selfie stick! This is a quick and easy way to communicate; therefore, I encourage you to follow. You don’t have to Tweet, but you can stay informed. I promise it is EASY!
Our teachers began instruction on day two as kids moved to new classes for Reading and Math. Schedules came home this week so you should be aware of the teachers your child sees in a typical day. Any parent who was with us last year knows our focus was Writing. This year we have added Reading Workshop. The workshop approach allows students choice and independence. We saw tremendous gains last year and expect nothing less this school year. Your teachers will be inviting you in at various points throughout the year for celebrations. I hope you will join us.
I’ve had a great time seeing so many of you on the bus routes this week. For the first few weeks, I enjoy getting to know our drivers and seeing their routes. The kids are always surprised to see me too! I will be riding each bus until I get through all twelve so watch out for me in your neighborhood!
We are very fortunate to have a strong partnership with Milton High School. This year your three feeder school principals (Williams, Chester, and Jones) have partnered for parent coffees together. The location will be Milton High School. Please see dates and times listed below:
10:00 am-September 27th
6:00 pm-November 29th
10:00 am-April 12th
Also, I am thrilled to announce CCES night at the Milton/Roswell High School football game. Our students will be allowed to go on the field before the game and need to arrive at MHS by 6:50. This will be a BIG game for North Fulton so arrive early. Our students will receive a souvenir from Milton for participating. Please save the date, September 30th. You all know how much I love football and I hope you will join me and the CCES staff for this exciting event!
I wanted to share photos from the first week and a few from our Barnes and Noble event. I hope you and your family are enjoying the Rio 2016 Olympics. I know my four year old niece, Catherine, has been mesmerized by the diving! Go USA!
