What we've been up to....
This week was our Five Senses Unit. It was so much fun!! For seeing, we painted on the easel, For Hearing, we listened to sounds that were later revealed. Our friends were great at guessing what the sounds were from. For touch we used our touch box to try to guess what we were touching without using our eyes. For taste, we tasted samples of food that were salty, sweet, spicy or sour. Then on Friday, we had a blind smell test and tried to guess what the twelve different scents were in covered dixie cups. We had a great time exploring our senses!! We also survived our first Fire Drill of the season. We had to make our way to our spot from the playground this time!! We are also really enjoying color weeks. I am attaching pictures from the group photos of the week.
What's coming up....
Next week is Friends Week. Since I am so partial to author Kevin Henkes, I will combine friends with an author study of Henke's adorable books. Some of my favorite stories are Wemberly Worried, Owen, and Sheila Rae, the Brave. We will, of course incorporate some old favorites, like Elmer and The Doorbell Rang during different parts of the week. It's just not Friends week without it!! We will be working hard on using phrases like "Please", "Thank you", "I'm sorry" and when we are addressed, making eye contact and saying, "yes?"
We'll be visiting the fire station on October 12th
Volunteer, anyone?
This week, we thank Brian's family for bringing snack over the past two weeks, and Violet's family for taking nap mats. Next week, Michael's family begins two weeks of bringing snack, and Ruben's family takes napmats. A few of you have asked to be plugged in if we don't have someone to take the napmats, but if you really want it, October 7 and 21 are currently available..
