Monday Morning Memo - Week 21
1/26/20 - RIP Kobe Bryant and Gianna Bryant
Dear Poupard Leaders,
Black Mamba
As I'm sure you all know, one of the all-time greats, his daughter and 7 others passed away today. Kobe Bryant has made a significant impact on so many people's lives across the globe. I appreciate the level of excellence he modeled and demanded from himself and others. Kobe absolutely exhibited the Core Values we created as a staff a year ago. He is one of the most fierce competitors that has ever played the game of basketball. I realized that Kobe Bryant was on another level when an opponent from another team attempted to intimidate him and Kobe didn't even flinch.
We all have something in common with this basketball legend; Kobe developed a passion to pass along his knowledge and skills to young people. In an interview with People, published online just two days before his death, Bryant said he launched Granity Studios “as a way of teaching valuable life lessons to the next generation, with whatever they hope to do. The goal is to encourage children to develop their own inner magic and believe they can achieve the impossible and do so in a fun way.”
He went on to say: “Storytelling has always been an interest of mine, so the transition was an exciting one. I’m being challenged in a completely new way and have really loved the opportunity to exercise my creative muscles.”
“I enjoy doing it,” Bryant told Forbes about the studio work. “I was fortunate to retire from the game and find something I love to do and that is the art of storytelling. There is nothing like having a blank page and outlining a story, a world, a character. What is it going to look like, how does that come together? There is nothing more fun to me than doing this.”
I encourage you all to use the power of storytelling with the little ones across from you inside the classroom. Our students deserve to develop their own inner magic and believe they can achieve the impossible through our encouragement and positivity.
Be great!
Ali

GES3
Our GES3 meeting dates and deadlines have been established by the team. You can access that information below. It will also be made available on our Poupard Schoology page.
GES3 Dates and Information Page
Walkie Talkie
All Classroom Teachers should have received a Walkie Talkie. Please take it with you when you take your students outside for an extra recess. The office staff will use it to locate individual students, typically for early dismissal.Emergency Information
Please be sure to review all of the emergency information for fire drills and tornado drills inside of your classrooms. We will be doing a sweep to make sure your emergency bags are stocked with everything that necessary and include updated rosters as they become available.
Behavior Referrals
Behavior Referrals must be completed using the Online Behavior Form. Staff must complete the behavior form anytime a student is sent down to the office for a major office referral. Homeroom Teachers and Special Area Teachers are responsible for contacting the family to notify them of any incidents that occurred inside of the classroom. Please call home over an email whenever possible. Personally, I'd recommend sharing anything over 3-4 sentences over a phone call as well.
