Takoma Park MS Community Newsletter
Week of November 21
Dear TPMS Families,
You are invited to attend TPMS Parent Conferences that will take place on November 21st from 1:30-4 PM and 4:30-6:30PM. This event provides an exciting opportunity for you to meet individually with your child’s teachers. This format allows for brief conversations of up to 5 minutes with multiple teachers. All are welcome! We will not have appointments for conferences. Parents will be able to visit with teachers as needed. In many cases there will be lines for each teacher. Please allocate your time accordingly.
The informal conversations may provide parents the opportunity to discuss one or two key topics during the allotted time period. Below are a few examples of what parents might talk about with teachers during the conferences:
Discuss the overall progress of your child in the class
Hear more about the subject/curriculum
Hear about upcoming projects/assignments
Hear how your child is participating in class
Hear some ways the teacher/school can support your child if they are struggling
Hear some ways that you can support your child at home with online learning
Just get to know the teacher a little better!
Please be mindful that the TPMS Conference event is not a time to raise a large concern or solve a big problem with a teacher. If your child has a specific problem in a certain class, you will need to schedule a parent conference with the teacher and / or grade level counselor on another day.
Thank you for your continued partnership!
Sincerely,
Erin L. Martin
