Understanding satire
Satire is...
the act of making fun of something or someone in order to expose stupidity or immorality.
One television show that displays satire is The Office. It displays satire by using irony and humor to make fun of issues that people face in a corporate office environment. The humor used in The Office is very sarcastic and entertaining which makes the show more fun to watch.
This picture uses satire by making fun of the idea of censorship. They crossed out the rest of the sentence like they would the inappropriate words.
This picture uses satire because it shows people smoking for the cure of breast cancer but smoking also causes lung cancer. So they're raising funds for one cancer while causing another.
This picture uses satire by saying Goodnight Ipad instead of Goodnight Moon because now kids play on Ipads or have books read to them on an Ipad instead of reading real books or having books read to them by people.
Simpsons Satire for the Classroom
The cartoon I drew is satirical because it shows a boy texting and reading an article about the dangers of texting and driving as he is about to step into traffic because he's looking at his phone and not paying attention to his surroundings.
