MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Walkersville Community,
Thanks for another great week at WHS. We seem to be flying through the year at this point, with Thanksgiving break coming soon. Next week is full week for us and is a great time to check in with Schoology, email or call teachers with any questions, and take time to ensure that your student is receiving the help they need in classes. I encourage everyone to check out TutorMe for live 24/7 help, it is easily accessible through student’s Clever portals. Good luck to our football team tonight as they take on Poolesville.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Dr. Stephanie Ware
Principal

What is the ASVAB? The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) is a multiple-aptitude test battery consisting of nine short individual tests covering Word Knowledge, Paragraph Comprehension, Arithmetic Reasoning, Mathematic Knowledge, General Science, Auto and Shop Information, Mechanical Comprehension, Electronics Information, and Assembling Objects. ASVAB results provide scores for each individual test, as well as three academic composite scores- Verbal, Math, and Academic Ability- and two career exploration composite scores. There will be a post test interpretation offered at a date to be shared later.
Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS) and Frederick Community College FCC
Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS) and Frederick Community College FCC) are pleased to announce that students who participate in dual enrollment courses, including those who are currently enrolled, will no longer be charged the cost of tuition.
A recent change in Maryland law (under the Blueprint for Maryland's Future) has resulted in this change in our Dual Enrollment program. To comply with the guidelines, FCC and FCPS announce the following information:
- FCC Dual Enrollment students (including students in High School Based, Open Campus, Career Pathways, and Early College) will not be charged tuition, starting from Spring 2023. Students will still be responsible for college fees and textbooks in all programs except High School Based.
- Fall 2022 FCC Dual Enrollment students who were charged tuition will be refunded any tuition paid. Students should expect their tuition refunds by November 30, 2022. College fees will not be refunded.
We hope this is welcome information for our students who challenge themselves by taking college programming while still in high school. For frequently asked questions, please see the following: FAQ: Tuition-Free Dual Enrollment and Fall 2022 Tuition Refunds.

CASS CORNER
CASS Corner: Veteran’s Day
Today, November 11, is Veterans Day. It’s a day that we set aside to honor and acknowledge the hard work and sacrifices made by men and women who choose to serve our country. Veterans Day originally was known as Armistice Day. It was celebrated as the day that the signing of the Armistice ended World War I. In 1954, the decision was made to change it to Veterans Day, to honor veterans who served in all wars. There are so many veterans in our community. You likely know some who you’re not even aware of. Keep an eye out for messages and social media updates from your network. You may learn something new!
How to Celebrate Veterans Day
Do you know a veteran? Reach out to them, honor them, treat them today!
Volunteer at or donate to an organization that supports veterans
Access lists of organizations at sites like: https://veteransfamiliesunited.org/maryland/, https://greatnonprofits.org/state/Maryland/category:Veterans/sort:review_count/direction:desc

You can find the Maryland ones at: https://www.cem.va.gov/find-cemetery/state.asp?STATE=MDTake part in the National Two-Minutes of Silence
The National Moment of Silence begins at 11:11am on November 11th. Take two minutes of silence to honor those who have served our country.
