Hearne Elementary's Playbook
Week of October 29, 2018
Choose to have a good day!
Whew! October was a busy month!
We have all felt the pressures of this crazy month and have remained resilient! Way to go, Huskies! We are a few days away from November! :-)
Take 2 minutes to watch how Smiley makes what seems like a bad day roll into a great one. This simple video captures the choice we make each day to turn what seems like a difficult moment into a defining moment of our strength, character, perseverance, and fun!
Thank you for a Fabulous Fall Festival, Hearne Family!
Special thanks to the Fall Festival Committee, all teams, volunteers, and Diana McFatridge for coordinating our annual event!
Teamwork truly makes the dream work!
Never forget:
You are making a difference!
You matter!
Your students need you!
-Johanna Sanchez, Shon Brown, and Jose Serpas

It's Red Ribbon Week at Hearne!
It is time for the Red Ribbon Week Extravaganza! Attached is next week’s daily themes along with what day to distribute student materials. Print this and place in your classrooms and work areas to promote the week’s activities. Review with your students, and help us pump up this fun but important event. Our theme for this year is, “Team Up Against Drugs and Bullying.”
You’ve been given student flyers to go home, so parents will be aware, prepped, and ready for each day’s theme. We are super excited!! Thanks in advance for helping this year’s Red Ribbon Week to be the absolute best. Any questions, just ask.

Tickets are Back!
Tickets!
It's time to reward YOU for keeping our campus safe, civil, and productive at all times!!! Without you, our campus would not be what it is today!
Staff members will receive a ticket for actively monitoring students throughout the day (hallway, lunch, recess, etc.), standing at class doorways during arrival, dismissal, and during transitions to monitor hallway noise, in addition to following campus-wide CHAMPS and common area expectations. We are looking to acknowledge you for your diligence and consistency.
Once you receive a ticket from an administrator, please write your full name on the back and turn it in the ticket box located in the front office. At random times during the week, a drawing will be held to reward staff members for making our campus safe and civil each week.
Perfect Attendance Update
Our Vision and Mission Statement-- We are what we say we are! Make it count every day!
Hearne Elementary will provide a learning environment where all students are empowered as leaders and critical thinkers. We are committed to building positive relationships in a safe environment while creating life-long learners who are prepared for the 21st century.
Mission Statement
The mission of Hearne Elementary School is to guide our students to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to make responsible life choices and positive contributions in a diverse society. In collaboration with home and community, we respond to the needs of every child, ensuring that each child can and will learn.
Be On Time and Use Raptor Daily
Plan ahead to ensure you arrive to campus before your scheduled duty begins.
The Raptor system has been moved to the front office (temporarily). The expectation is for all staff to use it daily to sign in and sign out.
If the Raptor system is down, we will do a manual sign in sheet where you will record your time in and out.
As a reminder, our campus norms are to be PRESENT.
Be
Professional
Respectful to each other and their time
Engaged in the learning
Student-centered focused
Encouraging to the team
Nurturing
Team player
You cannot Raptor in and be at your assigned duty at the same time. Campus safety is everyone's responsibility. It takes the effort from all players for our team to succeed.
