Language Arts
Your students shared their informational presentations this week. I was so impressed! We learned about everything from The Ozone Layer, The Bermuda Triangle, The Invention of Baseball to JK Rowling, Harriet Tubman and Rosa Parks. Feel free to ask you child to show you their slide presentation.
Have a great weekend.
Social Studies
Each colony received their fate! Through this simulation, students identified possible hardships and challenges that colonists could have endured as they explored the New World. Ask your child how their colony performed.
Students used their background knowledge to study the English colonies of Plymouth, Roanoke, and Jamestown. They will be assessed on this by writing a letter from one of the colonies back to family in England.
Next week students will broaden their study of the colonies by looking at the three colonial regions: New England, Middle, and Southern colonies.
Math
This week in math we began Unit 3, multiplying and dividing fractions. We began by multiplying unit fractions by whole numbers, where students completed multiplicative comparison problems that their classmates created. They then expanded their knowledge by multiplying non-unit fractions by whole numbers.
(Please check your child's Friday Math Folder for their Unit 2 test.)
