Message About Absences from the District
As of today, there are 22 sick days and 14 personal days logged in Kelly for subs on Tuesday, Nov. 20th. This is the day before Thanksgiving break.
As a reminder, personal leave requested a day before a holiday has to be approved by Dr. Cook in advance.
You may also want to remind employees per policy “……….The primary reason for the use of sick leave will be the personal illness of the individual employee or illness in the immediate family,….”.
'
Also, please remember that you MUST let Mrs. Kelsey know when you are out. A text is sufficient, however, this is non-negotiable.

"Our WHY" Focus of the Week:
Thank you for all you do for our school and our children. We have seen an uptick in undesirable behaviors in the classroom. I know that this makes an already difficult job seem nearly impossible. Thank you for keeping calm, remaining focused, and maintaining high expectations. I truly believe that we see an increase in undesirable behaviors right before breaks because children know that they will not be at school in a while. Change is difficult, and for some of our children, not knowing where your next meal will come from is stressful. This is not an excuse for undesirable behaviors and certainly not a request to lower the expectations of our children. This is just an observation that I believe is worth sharing. Thank you for all you do! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your families!

Safety Committee
Committee Goals and Concerns
· Shoutout to everyone for carrying their red bags and radios around the building and to recess. If you need any supplies for your red bag, please let Rhonda Cranford know as soon as possible.
· Encourage one another to work on Safe School videos. Our school gets money when everyone watches their videos on time.
· Encourage everyone to close and lock their doors when they leave their classrooms.
o This also applies to adults who have a master key who pick up students.
o Do not prop exterior doors open. Adults should have a key card to get into these doors.
o Continue to keep the stage door closed (across from Ms. Lake’s room).
· During fire drills, please make sure to use the closest possible exit.
o Take attendance as soon as you get outside. Showing your red card means you are missing students or have extra students. Showing your green card means that your students are accounted for.
o A Zone Zero voice is important for fire drills. We have to time our fire drills. Talking slows this process down and increases our time.
· Ensure that everyone has the essential information in their clipboards.
o Safe Seven cards (red and green cards)
o emergency numbers and rosters (for reunification)
o Emergency Care Plans and health issues from Rhonda Cranford
· At the next faculty meeting, we may need to discuss the “severe weather zones.” These are sporadically placed around the school in areas that are not near a window. These are used for tornado drills.
· We may also need to discuss tornado drills and lockdown in high traffic areas (outside of your classroom). Teachers are concerned about what to do in these large areas with a large number of students.
· We may also need to look into creating a handout for substitutes that details evacuation procedures or a quick overview of emergency protocol (earthquake, lockdown, fire drill, etc.). Substitutes are often confused during these drills because procedures are not left in sub plans.
· Why does the conference room exterior door remain unlock?
· Hillary’s master key does not work on the cafeteria stage door.
