This past week, we had the opportunity to hear guest speaker, Mark C. Perna. He very eloquently shared how we have a unique opportunity to recruit and retain the Millennials and Gen Z workforce. Unfortunately, there is a great deal of "bad press" about the Millennial generation (also known as Gen Y). The truth is that there have always been generational differences within the workplace and learning to work together based one's strengths and weaknesses is paramount to the success of the overall organization.

His comments yesterday had led me to reflecting upon our practice of recruiting and retaining our own NISD staff. How do we sell the NISD 'lifestyle' so that our younger generations want to be a part of NISD? Are we using recruitment efforts that are geared for the Gen X and Baby Boomer's generations? How do we draw in our Gen Y and Zs?
