Notes from the Principal
Thanksgiving Wish for All
I would like to wish all of our Boone families a very happy Thanksgiving Break. During our week off next week, I hope the time is spent enjoying time together with family and friends. I am astounded by just how quickly this first semester has flown by. I am amazed on a daily basis by the thoughtfulness, caring, and just plain love I see from everyone in the Boone School community. This is truly a wonderful and magical place. If home is where the heart is, then Boone is truly the biggest home in Texas!!!
Veterans Program a Huge Success
I would like to send out a thank you to all of the students, parents, and staff who contributed to make this year’s Veterans Day Recognition such a wonderful success. No event like this takes place without many hands behind the scenes helping out. From the teachers who created such wonderful classroom lessons, our Teaching Assistants who helped decorate and set up the cafeteria, the office staff for getting the program ready and being available to help our visitors, and the fabulous PTA for the Veterans Reception in the library. Most of all, a big Boone Bear thank-you to all of the Veterans who took time out of their day to be with us for this event.
Counselor's Corner
We have some great resources in our community for Thanksgiving. Operation Turkey helps provide meals for families needing assistance. I've included some addition information about United Way in this email. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Our Fall Book Fair will be held during the week of December 3-7. This year’s theme is Enchanted Forest Book Fair. It’s going to be awesome! If you can spare any time to help with book fair, it will be greatly appreciated. The days I need the most help are Thursday, November 29, for Set Up and Monday, December 3, for Student Preview. The link to sign up is below. 25% of book fair proceeds go directly to our library for books, supplies, technology, librarian professional development, and to fund our wonderful library clerk.

SPELLING BEE: DOES BOONE HAVE A STAR SPELLER?!
This year, Boone has enrolled in the National Scripps Spelling Bee! Scripps National Spelling Bee is a popular national institution that has been around for more than ninety years. It is an exciting program allowing children to expand their vocabulary and reading skills with free online preparation for families and tools for the classroom. Each year, Scripps holds a local spelling Bee, which begins in the classroom. Then the classroom winner competes with other Boone classroom winners to represent Boone Elementary in the (regional/local) Austin Spelling Bee. The winner of the Austin spelling bee will then compete in the National Finals held in Washington, DC live on ESPN.
