Principals will be observing I/E times to see the awesome things we are doing for students! If your I/E time is from 8:00 - 12:00, you will most likely see people coming around.
Upcoming Observations: (see the information given at the beginning of the year)
Certified staff on comprehensive cycle your next observation is unannounced and a pre-conference isn’t required. We will begin these soon!
Digital Learning Dayz WINNERS!! We would like to congratulate Mrs. Woods and Mrs. Sylvestre on winning the most innovative Digital Learning Dayz lessons for NCE!! Click their names to see their submissions and the cool and creative ways they incorporated technology into their classrooms using the Triple E Framework. They both will receive prizes and their choice boards will represent NCE in the district competition!! Congratulations and good luck to them both!!
Science Kits: All science kits are due back on Friday, March 27th. Please have your kit packed up and at the office by Thursday, March 26th. Mandy will call to have them picked on Friday, March 27th. If your kit is not in the office by that scheduled Friday pick up, you will need to call and schedule another day yourself. Please remember that we are fined for kits returned late! So help us be on time!!
iReady data: Several PLCs have started adding digging into iReady data onto their agendas. Here is a quick video that helps explain the iReady Growth Model and how to read some of the charts. This will be very helpful to understand before we start looking at the data together.
Book Whisperer Book Club: Come join us on Monday, March 30th in the PLC room to eat some tasty snacks, finish our discussion of the book, The Book Whisperer , and help us pick our next book club read! Even if you haven’t come before, we’d LOVE to have your thoughts on the book. Carla and Mandy could give you their Book Whisperer books to read! Earn some ceus and/or NCE time ! Hope to see you there!
2020 Census: Here is some information about the 2020 Census that the district has asked us to share with teachers.
Field Trip Reminders:
Please check with Evonne to ensure all chaperones are approved to volunteer before the trip.
Please be in contact with the lunchroom regarding your trip/ lunch options.
It is critical that everyone is back prior to dismissal. Please watch the time and leave in plenty of time to get back before normal school dismissal. We will not be able to hold dismissal for more than a couple minutes. This would mean that teachers would need to call all parents/arrange separate pick up. Please make sure chaperones understand this before you break up into groups.
Please make sure chaperones understand expectations for them for the trip. Consider if something in writing for the trip/location may be helpful. Consider including a contact number/how to contact you in case of an emergency and where to meet in case of an emergency.
Consider completing a Positive Office Referral this week!

Info for Staff:
Coronavirus info for students:
We do not want to panic our students in any way so please address this topic delicately, but we do want to continue to remind and encourage students the importance of proper hand washing at home and at school. Here is some info for students. Continue to emphasize proper hygiene such as washing hands with warm water and soap for at least 20 seconds, covering your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, and avoiding contact with your eyes, nose, and mouth.
Disinfecting:
Our custodians will continue to clean high use areas such as door knobs, flushers, faucets, water fountain buttons daily. We still have some Lysol wipes in the office if you need some to wipe down any other surfaces like your phones or light switches often.
Daily Attendance: We need to ensure that attendance is taken in a timely manner each morning and that it is accurate as the district is closely monitoring absences.
Additional precautions from the district for disinfecting student tech devices:
Cleaning Procedures:
Cleaning is different from disinfecting and generally only needs to be done when a device is obviously dirty or has not been cleaned for a long period of time.
All technology devices can be cleaned with a sturdy damp, not wet, lint-free paper or cloth. "Damp not wet" means that if you squeeze the paper or cloth in your hand, no liquid will run no matter how tight you squeeze.
The preferred cleaning solution is simply warm water and soap. The mixture should not be so soapy that it creates a lather on the cloth or device though.
Any excess dampness on the device can be wiped dry with another clean sturdy lint-free paper or cloth.
Disinfecting Procedures for Shared Devices:
Devices with a clean appearance should be disinfected at the end of each school day. If a device does not have a clean appearance, it should be cleaned first and dried prior to disinfecting.
All shared technology devices can be cleaned with a sturdy damp, not wet, lint-free paper or cloth.
The preferred cleaning solution is 70% Isopropyl Alcohol, more commonly referred to as rubbing alcohol.
Any excess dampness will naturally and quickly dry. Do not wipe dry with another cloth.
Obtaining Rubbing Alcohol
CCS will be purchasing an initial supply of rubbing alcohol for our K-8 and Elementary schools where student laptops deployed in grades K-5 are the predominant shared technology device.
As soon as there is an ETA on the delivery of these supplies CCS will reach out once again to Digital Learning Lead Teachers and Digital Learning Facilitators.
Once the initial supplies have been exhausted, however, schools should plan on the purchase of additional rubbing alcohol.
Applying Rubbing Alcohol to Devices
CCS will provide a small spray bottle for each classroom teacher in order to spritz the sturdy, lint-free cloth or paper. Our custodial staff have lint-free disposable paper towels that can be used upon request, however, schools are asked to ensure each towel is used until fully consumed rather than using a new towel for each device to ensure we are maximizing our resources.
We hit 50% and got the yummy doughnuts....now let's get lunch on the calendar! We are currently at 81.3 %....only 9 more surveys to go!
