The Bobcat
Week of December 2, 2019
Vision
Academic Excellence and Success
From Mr. R's Desk
Bobcat Nation,
Regarding our recent benchmarks... keep in mind that our benchmarks are designed to give us immediate feedback on whether or not students are meeting academic standards. We need to use these benchmarks to identify hot-spots and students in need of academic intervention. We ask you that you use these assessments as a tool to improve instruction and to increase student achievement.
Please keep in mind that our students were tested over current SEs. In other words, things that you as a teacher have been teaching this school year. Students and the data will show either mastery or no mastery. Simple. We all know there are external variables that we cannot control BUT, we cannot have a teacher with 100% of students passing the class academically yet only have 10% of students passing the benchmarks/CBAs.
In the areas of Reading and Math we are looking closely at growth. It is crucial that students show growth from last year to this year. The Quintile Report from DMAC is a good tool to use, when determining growth. Other content areas can also benefit from Quintile Reports.
Again, here is a breakdown of what each of your classes should look like according to state standards:
- 90% of your students should be at the APPROACH Level.
- 60% of your students should be at the MEETS Level.
- 30% of your students should be at the MASTERY Level.
This coming week we have scheduled our STAAR EOC Camps. Check out our complete Campus Intervention Plan 2019-2020 below.
