From the Principal.....
Dear Mustang Families,
The Mustang staff are committed to creating a year of excellence for our children as we focus on bringing our students, staff and community together to "Believe” in our path together. "Believe" is our motto as we continue to focus on making our district vision and mission the core of our daily work with children, teachers and parents. This will guide our work to believe in our students, our staff and our families working together. We're going to believe in each other in our quest to make a difference. #McBrideBelieve
As always, please feel free to reach out with question, concerns or compliments!
Sincerely,
Lisa Tyler

100-Book Reading Challenge
The Reading Team invites all McBride families to participate in the 100-Book Reading Challenge. We encourage families to gather together around books every day, whether they are picture books or chapter books. It can be the best part of your day!
One hundred books is a pretty big goal, but please notice that there is no deadline to this challenge. If you don’t reach it this year, keep reading over the summer and into next year. You’ll be building memories and reading skills along the way.
If you would like a special 100-Book Journal to track your progress, please contact Mrs. Sumsion. If you complete the challenge, please contact her and you will receive a special certificate of recognition.
Happy reading, Mustangs!

Bridgett Harkins (PLC Teacher) Ms Harkins listened and believed in a colleague and offered some great advice on how to work with some students who need support.
A second shout out to Ms. Harkins is the calm in the storm. Life threw a lot at her this week and she handled it with grace. I have nothing but admiration for a woman with the patience of Job, an unconditional love for ALL students, and a willingness to help her co-workers even when chaos reigns. She is a behavior guru and I learn something new from her every day.
Kirsten Humbird (ELL Teacher) Mrs. Humbird has embraced her new position with enthusiasm this year. What a positive teacher to have on our team. Mrs. Humbird's willingness to support a student who wants to learn Spanish as well as easing communication between home and school for our Spanish speaking families. Thank you, Mrs. Humbird!
Katie Quick and Kendra Griffin (2nd & 1st Grade Teacher) These ladies were super helpful last week when a coworker's car battery died. They both pitched in without hesitation to jump the car and stayed until the whole process was finished. They had joyful attitudes while giving up their time to help and their teamwork was much appreciated!
Melissa Howard (Speech Team) Mrs. Howard is incredibly positive and jumped in willing to support a new staff member this year with a lot of enthusiasm. Her smile around the building is infectious around the building. Thank you, Mrs. Howard.
Mr. Swift, Ms. B, Mrs. Stobbe, and Mr. Jark (Staff & 4th/5th Recess Supervisors) Thank you, team, for introducing the zip line to the 4th and 5th graders. They worked together to identify the correct way to use so all students are getting the same instructions. Thank you recess support team!
The Back-to-School Spirit Assembly Committee (Lindsay Campbell, Kari Stewart, Katie Quick, Noydena Douglass, Breighley Sexton, Owen McCartney, David Karn, and Heidi Green) - for planning, organizing, and leading a fun assembly for staff and students. Gathering together to celebrate the first month of school, is a wonderful tradition we have at McBride. Thank you team for creating a wonderful experience for staff and students.
Scott Thompson (Head Custodian) Thank you, Mr. Scott, for being willing to include a couple students, who need activity and responsibility, during one of his daily chores. The students look forward to their “job” and their time with Mr. Scott.
Sarah Landels (4th grade teacher) Miss Landels communicated scheduling conflicts with the Wellness Room Staff due to the Fun Run times. Thank you, Miss Landels, for this communication as it opened up opportunities for others to experience the WLC today.
Title Team! (Rosalie Sumsion, Diana Johnstun, Michelle Flock, Sharon Shiel and Amy Stobbe.) This team has worked together to train and encourage me each day. No question I ask is considered silly and their great attitudes make each day positive and uplifting. They help improve my teaching skills, my reading group effectiveness, working out solutions with students and all the little things I need to know to be successful at McBride. Thank you team! I look forward to continue working and learning with ya'll! Thank you, Title Team!
Jaimie Edwards (McBride Parent) Jamie greets McBride students in the mornings. She shares her smile, high-fives, and good day wishes with all who pass. She also ties shoes, offers hugs, and walks nervous kindergartners to class. Thank you, Jamie!
Mary Beatley (PLC Staff) Mrs. Beatley was "Johnny on the Spot" on Tuesday. We had a dis-regulated student who she knows very well. Fellow staff went to Mary for help and, even though she was busy with her own classroom, she came right out. She got down and talked with the student on her level, helped her re-focus and within 3 minutes the student was back to where she needed to be. Amazing to watch her genuine connection with students.
Rosalie Sumsion (Title Teacher) Mrs. Sumsion came into a classroom where there was a student who was experiencing behavioral difficulty. The teacher appreciated the support that she was able to provide. The teacher felt seen and not alone. Thank you, Mrs. Sumsion
Jenna Wartenberg (1st Grade Teacher) Mrs. Wartenberg has been very comforting and supportive through emotional times. She always has a positive attitude and a determination to keep going no matter what.
Heidi Green (Success Coach) Ms. Green is calm, enthusiastic and a positive leader who will go to great lengths to support students and staff. Ms. Green, you're incredible!
Martin Hehman (Special Education Teacher) Mr. Hehman is an administrative intern and was going to serve in Mrs. Tyler's position one day this week when she was away from the building. Mr. Hehman, instead, was put into a second grade classroom without a teacher. He was likened to a "Child Whisperer". Thank you for showing flexibility and positivity about making the day exciting for the students.
Traci Wolfe (Resource Room Team) Mrs. Wolfe is a calm and steady presence at McBride. Her attention to detail and kind heart, make her a valued member of our team. She is appreciated for all she does to support staff and students.
